If I were Bowles I'd put this on the bulletin board, along with every prediction that this team will have a shitty year. Give these guys even more reason to by hungry.

I can't believe that anyone in their right mind would predict 5-11 for this team. This just goes to show how clueless most sportswriters are.

So sports writers/analysts who get paid to cover the NFL are all clueless?

Just read what is out there. 95% of them have the Jets as a 5-7 win football team.

Or do you know something they don't know?

The refs will cost the Jets a few games. Last season I never questioned who the flag was for, it is always the Jets.

"It was the Jets; the Jets did it!"

NFL is about luck, we had our luck during Geno's rookie year also.

Oh yea, it felt like in his rookie year every win was pure luck and every loss was a complete blowout. Lavonte David? The field goal penalty against the Pats? There's no way that team should've gone 8-8. I think that both the 2013 and 2014 should have realistically been 6-10 teams, but luck always plays its role.

Exactly. We have the worst starting QB in the league. Until that changes, we're likely a bottom feeder.

The only time I've ever recalled us playing to positive expectations was 2010.

That bulletin board would have to be bigger than the scoreboard at Cowboys Stadium.

Do you seriously think any NFL player gives a crap about preseason predictions?

Oh they do. Tony Romo opened his training camp press conference by alluding to how they were projected to finish "5th" in their division last year and that things are "a little different" this year now that they're expected to be a contender. They know what people are saying about them and what expectations are.

If they have the Jets winning only 5 games, then yes, I do know something they don't. I think this team will win at least 7 games and could win as many as 10. If Rex was still the HC, I'd be in agreement with them, but he isn't. There's a new leadership. Players will be held accountable. The HC is going to be a complete HC and light years better than Rex could ever dream of being. The OC is better. There's better talent on offense and defense. We have a legit QB we can turn to if/when Geno falters. The only way this team only has 5 wins is if a half dozen of their best players go down with season-ending injuries.

So they are saying they are only one game better than last year with these additions, really?

Being a Jets fan this year is like detailing the best looking car you can buy and then realizing you forgot the engine.

Of course they do. They are professionals and being predicted to have a losing season is something that is definitely noticed. It's a slap in the face to their ability as players and as a team. They are already coming off a bad season and this stuff will fuel their motivation to be better.

Surprised at the number of people that think this is a 7 to 9 win team.

The Defense, even without Sheldon, is stacked. All throws will be inside and running the ball will be very difficult. Our pass rush will be immensely improved from our improved, possibly best in the league, secondary.

We have a REAL WR core this year and good backs for a RBBC style of offense. If our aging o-line can hold their own, and Geno plays even slightly above average, I think this team will be real special this year.

I'm more confident than I've ever been heading into a season. The defense has the potential to be SCARY good and our offense should be greatly improved over last year.

Just think about the number of games the Jets lost last year due to boneheaded moves. We eliminate those (which I think was coaching related), and with this new roster...oh baby.

12-14 wins. 11-5 at WORST. AFC East Champs.

I see you're out to win the Most Optimistic Poster award again. It looks like it's been 8 years since you won. What happened? ;) Just kidding around, mate. I think the team has the potential to do much better than 7-9, but I think it's expecting too much to say that this team will win 11 games and possibly 14. Are you forgetting that Geno and/or Fitz are the QBs? Our OL has huge question marks. In spite of the D being stacked, there are still question marks as to how well they will play together, whether everyone will stay healthy, etc. Then there are the facts that we have a rookie HC and new CS, new systems on both offense and defense. Add on top of that Richardson's 4-game suspension (and quite possibly longer), and Devin Smith's missing most of TC, and everything would have to go perfectly without any other injuries or hiccups for the team to win 11 games.

I'm thinking 7-9, could see 6-10, 5-11 if we have a lot of injuries.
