Going by from what's being reported, I'm starting to connect the dots to this story. This is all strictly my opinion

Ik approached Geno early on in camp about getting his money back. Geno told him he would pay him back (judging from reports). Geno's friend dies and understandably his emotions are all over the place. Ik probably still kept bugging him about getting his money back and Geno just imploded on him because his head was just not in the right place at that time. I'm only saying this because I know from personal experience. this has happened to me when my close friend died. I wasn't in the right frame of mind and I went off on my friends because he kept nagging me for money. My emotions were all over the place. I wasn't thinking clearly. I'm not 100% defending the guy because he should've paid him his moneya long time ago and it should've never escalated the way it did. Geno is a millionaire, $600 is nothing to him.

At the end of the day, Geno gives us the best chance to make any noise this season. You need a QB who can challenge NFL defenses. Fitzpatrick just doesn't scare anybody. Petty is the future, but we need Geno for this season.

To be honest, doesn't make much of a difference at this juncture.

    ...

It's not about who is right or wrong? That's weird because usually things that involve violence is 100% about who is right and who was wrong.

..but because its the QB position, Geno, it doesn't matter?

    Ok, gotcha.

He is how old? Of course there is going to be some immaturity. We all go through it, its apart of life, self growth, etc...

    Immaturity does not excuse violence.

Your analogy is awful. First of all, if I had to hire someone to fulfill a very crucial role for my financial purposes, I wouldn't hire a young immature kid.

    That makes zero sense.

The NFL is littered with young immature kids straight outta college. That's a part of it because that's when you get the most out of these kids physically. The mind is another topic, to say that Geno is the most immature QB we've ever had is laughable, to act like its unnatural for someone like Geno to have immature qualities at this age is laughable.

There are numerous QBs that come to a team as an immature young man, they all do stupid stuff. It's called being young and not understanding what life is really about.

    I am not a Geno apologist, I'm a realist.

Reality is, all Geno did was let his emotions get the better of him because he was being antagonized by IK over some dumb shit.

Nobody would ever get cut over that alone, ever.

IK threw a violent punch and broke Geno's jaw. He was cut because that is way beyond crossing that line.

If Mo was the one that threw that punch, are you saying Geno would've been cut?

Hopefully I'm comprehending that wrong because that's just stupid.

and no I don't believe that Geno was ever in any threat, what so ever of being cut from this team.

Hell, the kid didn't even swing back. Kudos to him. If it were me back in the day, I don't care how much bigger you were than me, if you punched me and didn't knock me out, I would've thrown everything I had at the guy.

Again, nobody will ever get cut for having an emotional argument.

    Big flipping deal.

    Really?

So if he can do it, why cant everyone else argument?

    So narrow sighted.

Yes, lets ignore the fact that every team and every situation is different.

My God.. I don't understand it sometimes.

That would have been the ultimate bad (stupid) move on his part if he threw a punch after pulling himself off the floor with a twice broken jaw.

The real key is why aren't any of the players coming forth to backing Geno up or least let it be known how much they support him. WHY?? WHY?? WHY??

This story has not ended. JMHO

Another poster compared Geno to Ben. You are correct, you did not understand it. He said Ben was immature but given time and now is a star. I was just pointing out he was given time because all he did was win while learning.

How many weeks will it be before he grows up? Are there any estimates?

I started to compare Ben and Geno first two seasons and stopped around Rex versus Cowher // Ben had Bettis, Willie Parker, Heath miller, Plax, Hines Ward, Randle El, not to mention Oline like Faneca lol Geno had Holmes

actually reports indicate Geno antagonized IK not the other way around.

And he didn't swing back bc he was KO'd in one shot....OBV he didn't swing back. I also doubt if he was not on the ground that GENO SMITH would throw a swing at IK.

That are exactly zero parallels between Big Ben and Geno, there aren't now and there weren't when he was a draft prospect.

Someone else made the comparison, not me. Looking at the supporting casts, only, Ben was surrounded by much better talent.

Maybe it all could have worked out a lot smoother if Geno thought about a 30second phone call to IK and told him about what was going on. We all have emotions and things can get wild, but he knew he was expected somewhere. Just make a quick phone call and resolve it. NO - instead, as the report stated, they were looking and calling him for about 2 hours to find out why he wasn't there.

The only thing I regret is that we didn't get to see smith last night...all this talk about him getting better in preseason and making quicker throws and no picks means absolutely nothing until he did it in a game..I don't remember ever hearing he totally sucked in practice the last two years either.
