Maybe. I'm really not so sure. I think he's a soft player, hence my earlier comment about his having a bruised vagina. IMO a TE that can't block isn't worth having, I don't care if they do list him as an H-Back. I hope he develops next year, because it would hurt the team if he didn't, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. I never wanted him in the first place.
FRED DAVIS! Why hasn't he been called? He might not be the same guy as he used to be, but the there simply isnt any good options out there. Or how about swinging a late pick trade for Coby Fleener of the Colts?
He had that production in a spread offense, and he was almost never covered. Most of his catches were within 2-3 yards of the LOS and never contested. He didn't have to block. He was like a WR. I NEVER thought Amaro was worth of a 1st round pick. I would have taken almost any TE in that class over him.
We are having a tough go this preseason as far as injuries. There was a bit of hype around Wes Saxton pre draft, anyone know if he looked capable of stepping up during camp?
Tough break for the Jets and the kid. Game planing around a tight end is not really difficult in this offense. The Jets will run plenty and a blocking TE that does not get penalties should be available before the season starts.
I was looking through the TE depth charts.. very shallow pool of talent. Dante Rosario is TE3 on Bears. Tim Wright just was traded to the lions to put pressure on Ebron. Joseph Fauria is supposedly going to the scrap heap. Chase Ford on Vikes likely cut too.
I wouldn't mind Daniel Fells from the Giants. He's stuck behind Donnell and he's a tremendous blocker. Just what we need.
Not this Jets fan. I despised Amaro and didn't want him if the Jets took him in the 6th round. He looked stiff, unathletic and soft to me, and he never really played a true TE position in college. He was always wide open because his passes were within 2-3 yards of the LOS in a spread offense.
How is it a "major" loss? He had a nice rookie season, but he wasn't even at the top of the TE depth chart. Calling him an H-Back was just Bowles covering for him. He's soft, always nicked up, and is just a big pussy imo. Probably most of us can block better than he can. He only is a major loss if he would have stayed healthy and put up great numbers this year, and there's no way to say that was a given.
