There will probably never be less than three corners on the field anyway unless Bowles completely changes his defense.
This is true in today's passing league, but as far as covering 1st 2nd or 3rd receivers I was wondering where he stacks up?
You're out of your cotton picking mind. You must have forgotten how good cromartie was. Thanks for taking the time to write all of these. You look stupid by just naming names.
Cromartie has some issues (like all CBs in this league) but he's not as bad as some of the nonsense on here. There are teams that would start him as their no. 1 CB in this league and LOVE to start him as their number 2. He's never had good training camps. he's a gamer (most of the time on purpose) He's going to get picked on from time to time across from Revis as any corner would but he'd do a better job than most in that position. He also makes plays which is what you need next to Revis as Revis doesn't make plays as much. A gambler and playmaker, he's a great complement to Revis.. and he's loyal to this organization. 2013 he played hurt as hell all year as the no.1 CB after Izdick made the dumbass decision to unload Revis. Playing hurt like that nearly ruined his career and the drop down in his play because of it definitely ruined his reputation. Still, he comes back here for less money than he could've made elsewhere after rebounding with a very good pro bowl season in Arizona. Cromartie should be praised and beloved by Jets fans. Next time you get hung up about training camp reports in Cromartie's play remind yourself what second rate shitbags started at CB last year. Guys like Phillip Adams, Josh Thomas, Kyle Wilson, Darrin Walls, Antonio Allen, spent time lining up at the 2nd, sometimes 1st CB position last year. To have a 4 time pro-bowler like Cromartie here as the number 2 CB a year after that disgusting shit is a damn blessing.
He's got a valid point. You don't. If you really think there are only 3 better corners in the league than Cromartie. I don't agree with all the names he came up with, but he also missed some other guys that I would have put up there instead. Either way, if you can only name 3 corners in the league that are better than Cromartie you really have some catching up to do. Either you don't watch enough football or you're just being a homer. Cromartie is not a top 3, top 5 or even a top 10 corner. You're basically implying that outside of 3-5 teams maybe he'd be the #1 corner on every team. That is just absurd.
Hey agree to disagree. I value him higher than you. I think hes top 10. And no i honestly cannot name 10 corners off the top of my head without googling names on the interwebs.
Nice post. I consider myself a Cro fan. I don't get the animosity here. Perhaps it is from some of the FO Homers here during Idzik's reign that approved of him letting Cro go. WHich was a stupid move. I'm also going to predict here that Cro will be back next year after having a good year this year. The only thing that might complicate that is if Skrines plays lights out and Milliner suddenly turns durable. So like I said I predict Cro will be back next year.
I'll try, just off the top of my head without looking anything up. - Revis - Sherman - V. Davis - Haden - C. Harris - J. Smith - P. Peterson - S. Smith - Talib - DRC - K. Jackson That's 11 and if I went and looked all the corners up I would probably find 5 more guys at the very least I'd put up there. Cro is not top 10, I don't see it. Kareem Jackson and DRC are fringe guys, you could maybe argue that you think Cro is better than those two but the rest just clearly is better, you can't argue those. Cro is a solid #2 corner, a solid starting corner. Top 10 corners are elite guys, they should be able to cover #1 receivers. Cro doesn't have that ability. He hasn't shown it. Not with the Chargers, not here, not with the Cardinals. He's not a corner you'd ask to shadow #1 receivers. And that's something you'd expect out of a top 10 corner.
The Jets can scratch their way to 9-10 wins like most recent years if things break correctly. I wouldn't really expect it. If we are examining schedules, I'm thinking 2-2 out of the first 4 games is a must for a fan to rationally think wild card. I think Cromartie gets a bit of extra criticism because for us he's always been compared to Revis. While every CB should strive to be the best, it isn't how it works. Corners get beat. Some of it I think is also how Cro doesn't look like anything takes effort out there for him. It looks like he's gliding across the field when in reality he's competing at a high level. I think Cro will do fine this year. He'll have his couple lapses in coverage judgment leading to big plays, but I think we'll see more big plays for Cro than against him. At least I hope so.
Talib is not better than cromartie. Revis, sherman haden peterson, then cromartie, and cromartie isnt very far behind everyone sans Revis.
Letting him go was the first stupid Idzik move with Cromartie, not matching the 3M offer he had in Arizona to bring him back was the second and by far the bigger of the two.
What are you basing this off of? I'd love to see anyone...one person..who has Cromartie in the top 10 besides you.
I hate when people diminish accomplishments of players or coaches because of what the other team did. As if no other team had rested their starters to affect the playoff situation for the whole league. I guess we should just put an asterisks on that season but only for Rex not for any of the Jets players.
