You hear a lot about Erin Henderson and he was a starter on the Vikings before the personal issues put him down. Don't know what he makes but he should probably hire a chauffeur service for the nights he goes out on the town. Those DWI's are just going to keep on happening if he doesn't do that. He's a target now.
He's a changed man, he paid his dues, and went to rehab. If Demario misses 5 more tackles next week, when does Bowles start thinking it's time to limit his reps? Or hell, even change his role? Henderson is our 2nd best linebacker in my personal opinion.
Day & night difference with Pryor from last year to this year. He was missing those tackles all day, every day last year. Now this is what he does each week, textbook tackling, fighting through trash and making plays. Along with Harris he's been our best tackler so far.
I think with Erin it was his knee that forced him out of the NFL. The DWI stuff probably played a role too. Hard to count on a guy who is out for the year with drinking issues to come back and be your leader on defense.
Actually, DD did not fill the hole and thats why he missed, if he had just filled the hole at the same time the runner got there he could have blown him up, instead he was late and the runner was able to juke him just enough to make him miss. Sometimes the offense has to get some credit for execution, and that was a perfectly executed offensive play by the Eagles.
It'll probably take a few bad games for that to happen unfortunately, Bowles seems to like him. He played almost every snap last week, more than Harris even.
I see your getting likes for this comment but from my perspective, he makes lots of good threads including TC updates, roster changes, etc. His contribution exceeds most peoples and he's a guy I will click everytime although I may disagree with his opinion at times.
i think our troubles rushing the passer are much more concerning then the tackling. if we are relying on cro to make tackles something has already gone wrong. Davis has been bad, but we know ILB is a weak spot. we are supposed to have a dominant defensive line. not only has it not looked dominant, but it has looked average overall and probably below that vs the pass. we havent gotten any pressure. Hopefully sheldon comes back and changes all of that. but so far, we havent gotten what we need to up front.
I appreciate it but we can't all be @DoubleDecker87 good in terms of quality and consistency. Each morning when you log on that's the first thing you see and you're looking forward to, a lot of insightful stuff from him, news, opinions, facts. Look at all his posts, a wealth of information. I mean just imagine a message board without that guy? Actually...sounds like an amazing place. The funny thing is he continues to read everything I post, only to whine about it. How sad. I try to cheer him up but it's not working out.
Oh yeah, I forgot...every defensive player on every NFL team should be tackling at a pro bowl level. There should never be a broken/missed tackle in the NFL again. Offensive players shouldn't ever be able to make defenders miss.....smh
A little early to jump on the D isn't it? I didn't see this week's game, but thought they played pretty well first two weeks.
What the hell is tackling at a Pro Bowl level? Dawan Landry was the surest tackler in the NFL last year I believe, he was also the furthest thing from a Pro Bowler. Tackling (well) doesn't define a player, nobody becomes a stud for being able to tackle people. That's the minimum requirement for you to play LB or S in the NFL. If you can't do that you shouldn't be on the field. Stop acting like only the all time greats know how to tackle.
Lol, it was a figure of speech. If you didn't understand what I was saying, then I feel bad for you. Certain players have certain strengths. Corners in general aren't good tacklers. Their strength is coverage. That's what makes Revis great, he's a great coverage corner and can make most of the tackles. Sorry to burst your bubble, but not every single defensive player in the NFL is going to make every single tackle. Feel free to watch some games other than the Jets some time, you'll see plenty of missed/broken tackles.
Even if you lame argument was true, I don't have to watch any other games to be able to compare Demario to another ILB who actually does his job and tackles well. Him and Harris play the same amount of snaps each game, they line up next to each other. There's your comparison. The guy Demario lines up next to is smoking him each week, now what? What's your excuse now? I shouldn't be watching Harris because it's not fair to Demario? Should I scout other horrible ILB's that miss tackles on a regular basis to feel better about DD?
Lol, so now you're saying DD is bad every game? I thought Bowles named him co-defensive player of the game against the colts? No player makes every tackle. Find something else to complain about.
Cromartie's tackling (lack thereof) in the running game might become a bigger problem than Demario. It's only a matter of time before teams start running stretch plays to his side and blocking everyone except him. Force him to make a one on one tackle. He won't. I can't believe it took 3 weeks for a team to realize that our LBs can't cover. The Browns and Colts OCs should be fired. Now it's on tape for the rest of the NFL to see so we're not hiding it anymore, and we won't be so lucky to have 2 huge wheel plays dropped every week.
300 per game and 34 points allowed for the first games by the D. not bad. we haven't faced a top QB or running back however. D wasn't sharp in the first half. much better in the second. I'd grade them a solid B for the first 3 games this season. Lam
