the def only gave up 17 points in the game - the kick return isn't on the D...we should be able to put up at least 24 points a game or we r looking at a sub 500 team again.
Probably meant 'elite' QB. Luck is pretty good but I think the media boys puff him up to be something more then he is like how Beckham is apparently one of the best WR's of all-time thanks to his (so very repeated) highlight catch.
That garbage Falcons run defense had no trouble shutting down the Eagles. Same with that garbage Dallas defense.
This. Gone are two-a-days. Live tackling and pads are limited to 1-2 days a week. How can anyone seriously expect good tackling with stupid rules like that? We have bunch of prima donna wussies playing the game today afraid they'll bruise their vaginas. Until that changes, no one should be surprised by poor tackling.
Just another case of the offense not doing what needs to be done to win , so lets see whats "wrong" with the defense. This shit has been going on for yearrrrrrs.
5 tds 7 picks say so. compare that to the top NFL rodgers 10-0 brady 9-0 etc. luck is so overrated by a lot of fans so don't feel bad. Lam
...yet literally every NFL GM picked Luck to build a team around. I'd still take Rodgers. The dude is a stud.
It's a poor excuse because it's not a team issue, it's not a league issue. Harris manages to tackle just fine, Revis tackles just fine. It's certain players who simply can't tackle. And no, nobody expects the Jets to have zero missed tackles all year, that's ridiculous. And people who argue like that don't even get what the issue is. I went over the game again and Demario missed 4 tackles by my count, that's 3 more than the next guy. He's a highlight machine when it comes to poor tackling because it happens regularly, he gets faked out of his shoes and allows bigplays or just falls with his shoulder into guys and completely whiffs. Missed tackles happen. Mo missed a tackle against the Eagles, so did Douzable. It's not an issue with them. With Cro and DD it is. Don't sugar coat it by blaming the offense or the league rules, whatever, that just simply isn't the case.
That's a good point. I heard on the radio that they were discussing changing training camp to improve these things about the game and decrease injuries. We'll see. The players association wanted a cupcake training camp where everyone prances around wearing shoulder pads twice a week during the summer and no full contact and they wonder why it's a sloppy product at the moment.
Less tackling = higher scores = higher ratings. More DPI calls = higher scores = higher ratings. More 2pt conversions = higher scores = higher ratings.
thats the modern day NFL sadly and the Jets have been and continue to try to build a team based on running the ball and playing defense. something aint right
oh come - everyone and their mother knows luck is a good qb...if jets had a chance to get luck today, we would give up our next 5 #1 picks
I'm not sugar coating anything. While it's true that some players are worse at it than others (Cro and DD two prime examples), the new rules have affected EVERY team. To say otherwise is absurd and ridiculous. It has ever since the rules were changed a year or two ago. Preseason and the first couple of games are rough in that regard, and things tighten after that. The first game or two, it was a problem league-wide. I don't think that anyone could dispute that Cro is and always has been a poor tackler. That's why many posters never wanted him back this year. DD has been a disappointment and most posters are coming to that realization. He has great speed, great character and has leadership qualities, but evidently not the instincts or football acumen/skills worthy of being a starter. In spite of his speed, he's not that good in coverage. He misses too many tackles. Players that can't or won't tackle should be replaced. I'm sure if Bowles thinks Henderson or Lattimore will play better, and Davis doesn't get his act together, that Bowles will replace him in the starting lineup.
Davis needs to figure it out or be replaced because he's the centerpiece tackler of the run defense. If he can't do it then he better be replaced if he continues to miss tackles. The defense is designed so David Harris eats the blocks, try to wiggle free and holds his ground on the strong side to allow David to run free to at least make the initial hit and let Harris clean up anything else. It's a thankless position for Harris but he's the only linebacker we have equipped to take on guards and tackles.
And 7 of those points came after Marshall handed the Eagles the ball at our 36 yard line. The Jets defense had a solid game against the Eagles. Offensive just botched it horribly.
