Cromartie after the game to reporters "I feel like I played like shit to be honest with you." glad to hear he "feels like" he played like shit when he did.
Because the next 2 CB's in line for that spot are made of glass: Milliner and McDougle. I think Williams needs more experience before he start at CB. Cro depended on his natural ability rather than learn a technique, and now he is exposed as he gets older. He can make some awesome plays, but then turn around and look so bad on the next series. No one on defense impressed me yesterday.
I'm glad people starting to realize how much of a liability Cro is. Not only is his coverage bad but his tackling was worse than I remember 3 years ago. He had a clear shot on that long touchdown and he like sheepishly tried to tackle back first. So sad And on marcus Williams - don't think it's fair to give him a hard time. Bowles put a young up and coming corner at safety. We all know from the Antonio Allen experience that playing a guy out of position can really stunt development.
Watched the first half again, disgusting. Cro, got torched yesterday; twice for scores in the first half. His tackling is pathetic. That was the worst game I think Cro has ever played as a member of the Jets. Carr was picking on Cro, easy money.
It would be nice if Williams was starter material. Unfortunately there is no reason to think he really is. The Jets will wait to see when and if Milliner is ready, imo. It is what it is.
Remind me what we ARE "getting from him"--a bunch of missed tackles/coverages, TDS for the other team
If he's If he's cut before the end of the year that would be Woody Johnson, regardless of if he's on the team or not . As soon as Dee comes back I want them splitting first team reps and Cro back there returning kicks . That is until Dee inevitably lands himself back on IR.
Pulled this from an article stating that Allen Hurns is a "must start" this week in fantasy football. "Through eight weeks, Cromartie is Pro Football Focus’ No. 89 cover corner out of 113 qualifiers. He’s allowed 18.4 YPR and five touchdowns to go along with a 132.5 passer rating." Oof. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/week-9-start-em-sit-em-094700029--nfl.html
Against Oakland Cro and Revis lining up 10yds off the receiver a lot. Looked like they are playing cover 3. With our lackluster pass rush makes no sense why they are lining up so far off the line of scrimmage. We are giving receivers a lot of time to get into their short routes. And if Cro is in a cover 3 there is no excuse why he continually getting beat deep.
I've seen you repeatedly take this stance that Williams isn't a starting caliber corner because Bowles would be starting him if he was, and Bowles knows more about defense than we do. But Bowles thinks very highly of him. When Cro went down week 1, he said that he wasn't worried because Williams is a starting caliber player, adding "[Marcus] is a good corner. For a young player, he understands the game, he sees everything, he understands what's about to happen to him on the field, and he plays with a calmness that makes you feel good about him." As well as in the preseason: "Marcus is very intelligent. He does some great things. He plays zone as well as man. He's an inside and an outside guy. Very heady for a second-year guy. So he's done some good things. I like everything Marcus is doing." Bowles isn't one to throw around praise, he's very reserved in that regard, so for him to repeatedly pump up a second year player publicly tells me how he feels about the kid. I think his reluctance to make a move in the lineup has much more to do with his loyalty (both financially and thru AZ ties) to Cro than it does with distrust for Williams. The fact that he trusted him enough to try and experiment with him on the fly at SS is also telling. He likes the kid and he thinks he can hold his own even out of position. There's no need for you to dump on him every time someone suggests benching Cro for him.
^ It is pure speculation that loyalty is the reason Bowles plays Cromartie over Williams. He put Williams in at safety this past week because Pryor was out and there are not many other safeties on the roster. I am dumping on Williams because I read the pre-season hype and he did look good in some pre-season games. Since then I have not seen much to admire, and he played like shit against Oakland.
Thank god we're only tied to this clown for one season. Wonder if we'll be drafting yet another corner lol. I'd just let Williams, Mcdougle, or Milliner take Cro's spot honestly. We've always been greedy until recently when it came to good CB play but truth is most teams don't have the luxury of having 2 really really good CB's. We gotta be glad we got Revis and a bunch of other guys that can man up at corner and call it a day. I'd rather see us go all out for a real-deal edge rusher than reach early in the draft for a CB or even pay a lot to a corner in FA.
He took a break from getting shitted on from like week 3 until last week but everytime it happens i get flash backs of the 100 times he got burned in 2013.. and all the reports about how he's been getting burned at least twice a day in camp.. and week 1 and week 2.. I'm just fed up with it. He's a shell of himself. All he had was going for him was the fact that he was athletic and now as he's aging and it's starting to fade it's just making him look like a fool tbh.
I agree he's not the same player he once was. He's definitely been getting burned a lot. The Milliner pick is really coming back to haunt us
Cro is a liability at this point. Yeah but...a case could be made for Cro solely losing that game for us. That non-tackle was simply embarrassing.
He's active for Sunday. I'm really curious to see how he plays. Let's see if Bowles can do something with him. This pretty much is his last shot to escape the bust tag at #9 overall Turn your head Millner!
