As per several reports, the Browns have placed OLB Barkevious Mingo on the trade block. Not a world beater by any means, but do you think with a fresh start and a better DL he could be the tipping point for us to become an elite pass rushing front 7? Or does he just become another mouth to feed cap wise and become Maybin 2.0? Somewhere in between?
We need a player like maybin on this team. We are sorely lacking dpr's and if the price was right for mingo I would do it.
Be honest, you just made this thread for the title, didn't you? That said, he is not working out in petitne's 3-4 would he work in bowles'?
I remembered him as a high first round pick and linked that to our need at rush LB... But it IS a catchy title huh?
Injury prone. Plus the coaching staff doesn't know what the fuck they're doing. They have him cover people. Last year. This year they're doing the same to their other OLB (Kruger) who is a pure pass rusher.
The idea of trading for Mingo reminds me of that Mitch Hedberg joke about people handing out flyers on the street. It's like they're saying "Here, you throw this away."
He is probably better than anything we can get in the 6th or 7th round. If mac did this i wouldn't hate it.
He's too small to be an every down player. We don't seem to play with our outside linebackers anymore either but he's a negative on the field on early downs vs. The run. We're running a 4-2-5 but the formation struggles against the run without Pryor so I'm not entirely sure we're going to roll with it anymore. Anyways, Mingo just isn't a very good football player. He's playing the position at 225-240 at most when you realistically need to be 260/270 to have a chance at competing against 315 pound tackles every play unless your some sort of freak strength wise. It wouldn't be the worst move in the world but yeah it seems like the thread title was more appealing to the OP than the idea.
I like him for anywhere from the 5th down. 5th is starting to push it. But if there is some chance he plugs in to the starting lineup 5th round is a small price to pay for sack potential imo. He's a vet witch could edge him over Maudlin for the time being, and much younger than Pace for what it's worth.
He's not worth a fifth. Traded a fith for marshall a pro bowl receiver. I understand money and age of the marshall trade but Mandingo here hasnt done shit in the NFL.
7 sacks in three years isn't usually worth trading a draft pick for, but his name is so awesome that I'd offer up a 7th.
Imagine he comes unblocked and just smashes brady, somebody could post "mingo just ate your brady" I would go conditional 6th for that opportunity
Would a swap of Coples for Mingo make sense for both teams? I am not sure if they have equal value so this is just a question for someone who may have a better idea than me. Cleveland has Shelton on the defensive line and then it looks like two other bigger players. He wouldn't be blocked by Wilkerson and Richardson there like he is here.
Mingo is not worth a 3rd at all. It's always interesting a few years after the draft seeing these guys, Mingo, Luke Joeckel, Coples, Eric Fisher. How many of these can't miss prospects just fizzle out a couple years later.
