8 snaps yesterday. With Mauldin's increased playing time, - looks like QC is entirely on this roster as a backup in case someone gets hurt.

Great role for the 16th player overall from the 2012 draft. Practically a whiff on our first 2 picks that year (QC in the 1st + Stephen Hill in the 2nd).

There's no room for him, our D-Line is crowded. Should have traded him when we had the chance to.

Coples first year he lead the team with 5.5 sacks, he also had 30+ tackles, this was no Gholston. He never should've been converted to a Linebacker, we drafted him first round 16th overall to be a D.E. and we never really gave him a shot before continuing to draft defensive linemen.

He's a shitty linebacker, but may have developed into being a dominant DE.

He sucks... he's been a huge bust.

No one in their right mind would give up anything for this guy...

Coples seemed like a forced pick at the time, and it was probably an example of a spot where we should've traded down. He's always been miscast in our D. He's not a 3-4 DE, and he not a 3-4 OLB. I can't see how there would be any trade interest for a part time player who would have to learn a new system. So we let him walk in the offseason. Thanks for a few good memories. Meh.

Watt probably would have had the same career had the Texans moved him. That doesn't make any sense.

He was over drafted but that doesn't make him a bust. Playing OLB might though. Coples has been fine for us when played on the line, in his rookie season and filling in when Wilkerson got injured. There's no reason to think he won't be fine again if he plays on the line, but it is not likely to be with the Jets. Sheldon and Mo are just better than him. Williams has way more potential and almost certainly will be better too. There's just nowhere for Coples and you don't keep a rotational backup for what he is going to make. Douzable and Barnes are more than capable.

Like I've been saying for several years Coples is a decent run stuffer and a decent at forcing some pressure along the line. However he is lacking as a true pass rusher and is definitely not an OLB. He's wayyyy too inconsistent and disappears for long periods although not as bad as his first few years in the league. If you get any draft pick or players for him, then you take it and move on from him.

Coples was in for all of 8 snaps against JAX and lined up offside on 1 of them. This is not a guy who belongs on the NYJ DL.

One of the stupidist moves Rex Ryan ever made.

Sorry but Coples rookie campaign is looking better than Leo Williams at this point. The issue is they just can't stop drafting DB's and DE's leaving no time to let Coples develop as a d-lineman. Coples isn't a bust, he was moved to linebacker but is too big and slow to be an effective linebacker and wasn't allowed to do what he was drafted to do. Moving him to L'backer was just Rex being too smart for his own good and believing his hype as a defensive genius.

Bottom line is nearly a decade of drafting defense and paying big money for defensive players has left us a poor to middling organization. You win in this league with a dynamic offense. The Jets have to start sticking with their picks on defense and drafting high on offense. I would kill for a Gurley or Odell Beckham Jr. on this team (or a QB let's be honest).

Gurley or Beckham would be nice, but next year the jets need to draft high on the OL! The OL is old and not very good. Look at yesterday's rushing total if you need proof. Time for back to back picks like Ferguson and Mangold in 2006.

Do we get a 2016 compensation draft pick if Coples signs with another team after this season (as he certainly won't be back here)?

Mike Tannenbauems worst draft....2012 1.Coples 2.Hill 3.Demario Davis....Antonio Allen was a 7th round pick that year a decent pick I suppose Davis was to ...But we are still suffering because of those first two picks years later.I'm still waiting for Leonhard Williams to have a breakout game

A lot of fans are constantly hung up on the QB issue, --- but getting little to none from the first 2 picks of a recent draft is what keeps holding us back.

So many of us on here were pushing for C. Jones and A. Jeffery with those picks. Oh well.

We've exercised our 5th year option on couples, so we'd have to cut him (the money's not guaranteed - unless he gets injured). I believe that if you cut a player you don't get a compensation draft pick if another team picks them up. He's something like $8 million next year. No way the jets keep him and I don't see another team willing to take on his $8 million contract for next year in a trade.
