Geno fans more annoying that Sanchez fans at this point. At least the team won games with nacho, at least he had some comeback wins etc. Geno has done jack shit in his pro career except suck dick.
I wanted Teddy or Carr or to lose out for Marcus because I never thought Geno had the football IQ to be a serviceable starter. I've been very consistent in that. I'd try to muddle through with Fitz until we're mathematically eliminated then start Petty. _
A logical response is that Fitzpatrick has flaws but he also makes plays when given the chance. When the run game is working and receivers aren't dropping the ball he has a chance and the Jets have done pretty well in those situations this year. Geno is a different story. He's a failure point on his own even when the run game is working and the receivers aren't dropping balls. As soon as Mangold went out yesterday against that Texan front seven the Jets chances of winning the game went down dramatically. They had nobody who could block Watt and Mangold was their best chance at making the right adjustments against the blitz to allow Watt to be consistently doubled teamed. Putting Geno in wouldn't have changed anything. Devin Smith still drops the deep pass. The other receivers still have their drops. The only difference is that Geno is also a failure point now. Did you see the aftermath of Fitzpatrick's TD charge? D'Brick immediately grabbed him around the shoulders and walked him away as he was looking wobbly. Why? Because D'Brick knew that if Fitzpatrick went out of the game due to the concussion protocol Geno was going to be put in the game. Think about it.
Yes but Fitzpatrick is here because he's a "game manager" right? we heard that all offseason. If there's no game to manage, whether its his fault or not, then there's no reason to play him. As were seeing, he doesn't have the ability to take a team from behind and win, that's the story of the guy's career. Well if there are issues with this team that is causing them to have to play from behind a lot (and I agree, there is) then what's the point in shooting yourself in the foot with a guy who absolutely has proven he can't bring a team back and win? You don't get brownie points for losing close games...
I'd rather see Petty. Petty has as good or better arm, is more physical than Geno, and has a higher football IQ than Geno. His issue was the system he ran in college which was also Geno's problem, but Geno doesn't have the brain to figure out the next level whereas I believe Petty does. I also think Petty will be 1000x the leader that Geno is. I think the team would rally around him. _
The Jets are one of the best red zone teams in the NFL this year. Sometimes they fail. Pointing out a failure and acting like it's the rule instead of the exception is ridiculous. Right?
2 straight games of 3 points in the first half...2 straight games of INTs and general failure in the 4th quarter All of it isn't on Fitz but you're damn right a lot of it is... With the way the offense looks right now we have nothing to lose by making a switch....Defenses are just pressing up, jumping routes, and pressuring the hell out of us which is also why we are struggling to run (Mangold out hurts but watch the film) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well the concept of the post went to hell........and yet it illustrated the point perfectly. As soon as names came into it, logic went out the window. Same bias at cb...31 vs. 20 What can you do? Sure, our backup turned starter is playing beautifully. 4 losses in 5 games isnt THAT bad. lol And the anemic, bottom of the barrel offense isnt HIS fault. lol Sent from my SM-G386T1 using Tapatalk
If Geno had a torn rotator cuff he'd be unable to lift his arm let alone throw so no go read a kinesiology book.
Here's a question. Does this "no name" backup even get us to within 5 in the Buffalo game and 7 yesterday? If you think our no name starter is the biggest problem here, you're sadly mistaken.
Right now the Jets are losing games based on 1 big play that does them in. The big play this time was the long TD to Hopkins. Every game this year has been a 1 score game except the game that Geno played most of. The tight games thing is a sign of a team that is on the edge of being good but not over the top yet. The problem is that the team is constructed around a lot of aging vets and so next year isn't likely to be better than this year. I'm really hoping the plan is to build heavily through the draft and this year's free agent signings were just a band-aid forced on the team by the 89% rule. I'm also hoping Fitzpatrick doesn't get killed out there by the end of the year. He's actually playing very well given the chaos the injuries have forced this season. Starting center and right guard have been hurting or out. Both his main receivers have been hurting most of the season. The H-back the Jets were planning to be key in the offense has been suspended for a quarter of the season. The runningbacks have both been banged up and the backups haven't been anything special. He's doing a good job given all of that. He's the best leader the Jets have had on the field since Favre.
lmfaooooo what?! i agree with some things here but the D'Brick grabbing him because Geno might come in is some straight up bull shit lmfaooo .. u just made that up. And as i said plenty of time the run game is struggling because Fitz can't take a snap under center because of his thumb, making Ivory take hand offs from the shot gun formation instead of i-formation.. which defeats Ivory's whole purpose. Has nothing to do with what Geno can or can't do he isn't even playing haha
Not the interceptions and punts on potentially game tying/winning fourth quarter drives following huge defensive stands? Does that come into play at all? If it HAD been the other guy who started these last two games, whay would the concensus be? Honestly step back, away from preconceived notions and answer that. Would the other guy get a pass?
