As soon as the Devin Smith news came out, I had thought right away about the opportunities that Thompkins would receive. He basically saved the game for us tonight.
Any jag reciever needs to make that catch. He was wide open. Props to Fitz, perfect throw under incoming pressure
Yessir and Fitz got crushed. Interior pressure was killing us all night long. Thompkins is a pro receiver even if he's not above average. He's a good 4/5 to have on the roster though.
True---the catch was not hard. The fact that he told Fitz earlier in the game that the play was there is impressive. It made Fitz look for him when the play was designed to go inside. At least that is what the papers are saying.
I heard Fitz in the post game say KT came to him at halftime and said that there was an opp for a side line pass against certain coverages.. he saw it and they audibled for that play..SAVED OUR ASS!
One of the cool things shown in the on field replay of his big catch against the Cowboys is #11 Kerley cheering him on from the sidelines.
Always liked Kenbrell as a 3rd or 4th WR. He is the guy the Jets need to fill the role until they develop a young talent.
^^^THIS. He is a veteran that can recognize coverage tendancies and a valuable asset because of that. A guy like Devin Smith might be able to run down the sideline and maybe catcth a ball here or there, but he doesn't have the clout to tell the quarterback what's going on in the secondary and be listened to. He came up with a huge play that exploited what Dallas had done earlier in the game...quality VET move.
