http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-netwo...aign=nflcom-cs-homepage-videoswap_generic_nfl Talks about him around the 1:20 mark. He could be biased since he worked with him, but you can tell he has a lot of respect for Bowles.
I'm sure Bowles would say Arians deserves it. And I would agree with that. Arians , Rivera and even Andy Reid are more deserving than Bowles.
I agree with Arians and Rivera, but Andy Reid? How do you figure? He's been coaching the same group of guys the last few years, they went 9-7 last year and have the same record as the Jets this year. Meanwhile, Bowles is a brand new coach, turns a 4-12 team into a 10-6 or 11-5 team and a great chance at the playoffs.
Likely 10 straight wins after a team loses their best offensive weapon says a lot. Plus this isn't the same team that went 4-12 last year. Not even close really.
I still don't see the argument. They were an 11-5 team in 2013 and 9-7 team last year. Yes, they lost Jamaal, but they have real good backups and Maclin who is light years better than what they've had at WR the last couple years. Kelce has turned into a top TE. Possibly 10 straight, sure, but they barely squeaked out wins against the Browns last week and Chargers 2 weeks ago. (Both bad teams). The Jets could make it 6 straight wins this week and end with the same record as the Chiefs. There is just a much bigger turnaround this year for the Jets than the Chiefs. Chiefs the last 2 years, 11-5 (Playoffs) and 9-7 (just outside the playoffs) Jets the last 2 years, 8-8 and a dumpster fire 4-12. They both could end with the same record and a wild card spot this year. A first year head coach from 4-12 vs a seasoned vet head coach from 9-7. Yeah...it just doesn't make any sense to vote Reid over Bowles. You're going to have to try harder if you want to convince me otherwise.
Well I'm not trying to convince you it was just my opinion lol. Doesn't matter cause both of em won't win it. It will be Rivera or Arians. The way you make it sound through makes it seem like you think KC is a more talented team than the Jets are. I think that's far from reality. And past seasons don't matter. We're talking about this year.
Funny how he was a complete bust in Buffalo with equal or even more talent to the point where ownership had to go public telling everybody he wouldn't be fired in his first year after signing a huge long term deal a few months ago.
Both guys somehow would be right. I'd tend to Bruce as COTY because of how consistent the Cards were this year, how proven they are (see last year even though this is a 2015 award).
Bruce deserves it probably. But he's a standup guy, amazing person who really cares for the people he works with. I saw how heartbroken he was when Honey Badger tore his knee up, they have a bond...I'm sure he shared a similar bond with Bowles.
Bowles is very deserving of Coach of the Year. Unfortunately, in Rivera and Arians, he happens to be up against two other coaches having almost historically good seasons.
Arians is a helluva coach. I said the Jets should've went after him hard after what he did with Indy. I distinctly remember a few special posters on this board saying that he had a lot of flaws that could prevent him from being a good HC. Well all you savants who said that were dead wrong. There's certain guys who can turn mostly any situation into a winner and he's one of them along with Jim Harbaugh and a few others. Classy on his part to recognize Bowles who I think will be a fine HC in his own right.
I could see saying Arians has some competition if the metric is purely this year. Some I said. But he's really done an awesome job building that franchise since he got there. Last year they hit a few bumps when not only Palmer but Stanton went down. But that would happen to any team. They've gone from an Super Bowl loser who then saw their Qb leave, leaving really only Larry Fitzgerald, to a team today that has no flaws and is running away with metrics like points differential, yardage and others. The credit has to go primarily to Arians. He's one of the very best coaches in the league right now. But despite all that it's nice he said nice things about Bowles, who certainly is the best rookie HC, and probably is that at least since Arians was first made HC in Phoenix.
Mehta should lose his job for this tweet. Does he realize that had rex been the coach, Geno, Coples, and Millner probably would be playing, and Pryor would not be playing at this level. No way we beat New England last week if Rex was the coach. Further, do you think Rex would have brought in Chan to be the OC, don't forget he was retired when Mac n. Bowles brought him in. Even I second guessed them for bringing Chan in. I had Rex blinders on until he went to the "Sanchez gives us the best chance to win nonsense".
