If it wasnt for this dooschbag the Jets would have a real stadium in Manhattan instead of the dump we are supposed to go to in crappy north jersey. A Manhattan federal judge has scheduled former Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver’s sentencing for April 13. Silver was convicted on Nov. 30 of making $4 million in legal referral fees in two separate schemes in return for helping an asbestos doctor get research grants, and aiding two developers on tax and rent laws. The Manhattan Democrat also was convicted of money laundering charges, and will face a theoretical maximum of 130 years in prison when he is sentenced by U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni. His actual sentence is likely to be well below the maximum. Former Republican Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, who was convicted of unrelated corruption charges in December, is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood on March 3. The corruption at every level of govt in this country has me so friggen depressed. There is no foreseeable way out either. Somebody fill me in on the back story. We had a legit chance at our own stadium in Manhattan?!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Side_Stadium It would've really sucked going to games, although especially this year I've basically preferred to watch on TV. I wish we got this stadium done. Metlife is a shit can especially compared to all of the other state of the art arenas being built. The ONLY thing they got right with Metlife is easily accessible and fast moving bathrooms. Everything else sucks or is basically the old Giants Stadium covered in lights and shimmering silver plates on the outside.
Always gotta put down Jersey huh? Well you guys blew your chance to bring the stadium back to New York, and I couldn't care less.
Lol Manhattan stadium. And people think our home field advantage sucks now? Imagine paying triple what tickets cost now and sitting next to guys in suits on game day.
It doesn't seem to affect Washington or Dallas crowds all too much. I'm guessing ticket prices would be on par with those stadiums.
Btw, you're from Rutherford? One of the best parts of my game day experience died a few years ago. I fucking LOVED Jerry's. The Jesse Salad was outstanding and the old fashioned Italian fare was awesome. _
Yes. Woody had plans drawn up and it was beautiful. Retractable dome. The neighborhoods around it would have had bars and restaurants. It was west of Penn Station in some railyards, but I forget where exactly. You can probably google it all. Silver was against it. I think he was in cohoots with the Dolans who own Madison Square Garden, and they didn't want the competition, plus there was sour grapes because Woody outbid them for the Jets. Some fans didn't like it because there wouldn't have been room for tailgating, but that had nothing to do with Silver. I think he cited traffic issues. I don't remember what else. Someone with a better memory can probably post all the pertinent facts.
Only been living here a few months. Hoboken/NYC boy originally but got sick and tired of paying insane amounts for shit holes. Suburb living sounded a little better. Went to Jerry's tons of times as a kid though. Great gameday place just like Rutt's Hutt.
Would have been a fucking palace instead of the dumpster fire we got. A World Class Facility for the Greatest City in the World. I would gladly have paid double the PSL and trekked in from NJ. I hope Sheldon Silver gets ass raped every day in prison. And that he's not gay and doesn't prefer it. _
But NYC is much more of a tourist trap. Even if ticket prices stood at a decent price , the concessions would be even more nuts than they are now. Last time i checked a beer was $12 at Metlife. I'd bet it would closer to $15 at a Manhattan stadium
