Just want to know what the board thinks of our CB situation. I see a lot about us losing Cro, which I think is honestly fine. I think Bowles brought him here year 1 to help install the system since Cro was familiar with it as well as the team in general.

Personally, I think Marcus Williams is the heir apparent to replace Cro and I don't think we need to go out and sign a CB in FA. Sure we can hit the draft, which we probably should, but I don't think CB should be a major focus this offseason.

Yes, Revis is a year older but still highly effective, plus Skrine can play outside if needed, I just think he's best served in the slot. He did a great job in that role this year.

Would you all be upset if Cro walked and Marcus Williams was promoted? What do you want to see happen?

I don't think anyone here would be upset if Cro walked,,,,,I am also willing to say that half the people on this board would be ok with Revis walking away,,,,I am not one of those,I think
Revis is no longer what he once was not even close I still want him here , I just wish they could get him to restructure somehow but that could bite us down the road

i think we are fine honestly

revis got way too much shit on this board. dude is still a baller and i really like skrine. hopefully mcdougle can become something, it was technically his rookie season last year, and marcus williams has a lot of potential

we truly have a great combination of competent vets and young players with upside that don't need to be relied upon right away

No restructures, we've seen how bad things can get when you keep kicking the can down the road. Just bite the bullet and move on.

    Cut Cro and resign Walls?

The depth chart would be Revis, Williams, Skrine, Milliner, Mcdougle, Walls. But I don't think we can count on Milliner or Mcdougle. We interviewed Tavon Young at the Senior Bowl, a smallish corner that has solid tackling skills and is probably more suitable for the slot. Morgan Burns plays CB but I don't know if he's that good but he's a hell of a punt returner. Worth a look

I think Revis needs to have his role diminished. He cannot go up against the elite tier WRs 1 on 1 anymore. It maybe best to find a good #2 wherever that be Williams or someone else, so they can double the #1 receiver like Hopkins with the #2 CB and safety help. Revis should be on the #2 receiver on an island.

Depth will be essential and I don't know if the Jets have that. Dee Milliner? Cro is gone, Marcus Williams was only good under a small # of reps, so hopefully he steps up

This. Revis can still play but hes simply just too old and slow to cover guys like hopkins and watkins 1 on 1. The coaches are more to blame than revis for this imo.

They need to figure out what they have in Dee Milliner

Open to a restructure if it means retaining Mo or going out and making a splash and sighing Von Miller.

i'm not sure i'd be ok with williams, millner, mcdougal and walls behind revis. cro needs to be cut but i think we still need to bring in a vet or 2 as insurance. i'd even bring cro back at the right price ~3-4mil

Cro will def be sent packing. But Im not sure I love Williams as a number 2.

Maybe we try to strike gold late in the draft with a player that slips because of injury or attitude problems.

Would be a cheap and no-risk fix.

I'd be surprised if Von Miller hits the open market.

Jets shouldn't need to go that far in the reserve to get Mo to stick around IMO. Von Miller, then maybe you go with the risk for sure

Von Miller isn't happening regardless so we can forget that.

If he takes the restructure sure for Mo that makes sense, but also depends on how close the front office feels this team is to a run. If they think we're 1 - 2 players away and a Revis restructure is what it takes, then they should do it.

I'm worried if Marcus Williams is the heir apparent. He didn't prove much in 2015. He has a nose for the football but he played in very limited snaps and when he played full games due to injuries (Oakland, Buffalo) he was exposed.

He is most likely going to get tagged by Denver which is a shame because he deserves more than what the tag pays.

Most likely getting tagged yes. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see him tagged then for the team to work out a long term deal before the season.

We should be more worried about Mo. He could get tagged then if they can't work out a long term deal, do not be surprised to see Mo traded.

We've tried the whole sign and draft defensive backs like the fucking plague is killing them off so we better stock up strategy since 2008. The short passing game has been eating up heavy blitzing teams (6+) since Rex's last successful run in 2010. Successful defenses since then obvious includes New England (draft linebackers and pass rushers every year), Ravens (Suggs/Dumervil on the edge), Denver (Ware/Miller), Pittsburgh (draft a LB or DE in the 1st/2nd round every year), Chiefs (Houston/Hali), Packers (Peppers/Daniels/Matthews), etc.

The only true aberration to the rule is both the Bengals and Seahawks, and both teams features an elite DT and an elite DE.

There's an article where Maccagnan talked in depth about the pipeline of linebackers the Steelers have produced. They've had good pass rushers at the spot since the mid 1990s with Jason Gildon all the way up to Dupree. I'll try to dig it up.

The age of overpaying for defensive backs tried to start up with Sherman and Patrick Peterson and looks as though it's going to come to an end rather quickly after seeing the abomination of a contract Revis received.

They will apparently franchise tag Mo at $15 M tomorrow according to Cimini. Not getting close in the negotiations. I feel a trade coming for Mo. Who could be a good suitor, Cleveland, the Ravens, the Cowboys?
As for our corners, Revis or not, it's time to change our secondary scheme philosophy. Revis Island is getting too big to patrol by himself like years past.
