The TE position is in dire need of being upgraded. Big time Amaro fan (even got his jersey). Give him a chance and if he doesn't cut it than cut him. Unless a TE falls into our laps I see him as our best option. JMO
I think you're right. Current circumstances with money and options may dictate that we need to hold the fort with the guys we have. Somehow hopefully Amaro, and maybe Sudfeld and Wes Saxton, and the use of Enunwa can tide us over. I've given up on Cumby and Davis. This is a big opportunity for Amaro to step up and contribute.
Amaro won't be a Te for the Jets next year , because he can't block. He will get a look at H-back or maybe Fullback position , because he can be potential a weapon there. He just won't get opportunity at Te, as the Jet want a Te to be able to block.( why he could be trade bait this offseason - not what this coaching staff looking for.
I really feel like his "beef" with Rex was a very bad first impression to a new old school styled HC. I can't imagine Bowles being okay with his only 2nd year player taking shots at the last coach.. especially when Bowles wants nothing to do with how Rex did things..
What made you think he was being facetious? I saw nothing to indicate that. Based on other replies I've seen him make, I thought he was being dead serious.
Even he knows that it would take more than a questionable roster depth move to get a HC fired. I don't know, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, like I do most guys in here.
Maybe you're right, but it was only a month or two ago that several posters were calling for TB to be fired already, and they were dead serious. Some of us know each other, but most of us don't know each other well enough to know when someone is being facetious, sarcastic, or being serious. I always take people literally. I've found that to be the safer course. We don't have the benefit of seeing facial expression, body language, or hearing speech inflection/tone of voice. IMO if someone wants to be clearly understood, they need to make it clear when they're being facetious, joking, etc.
I dont think he has any trade value. Other than maybe a 6th rounder. And is a 6th rounder that valuable for a guy that was taken in the 2nd just 2 years ago? I rather just see what we have once and for all and cut bait if he sucks. No harm no foul there. But unless Gailey has some sort of creative type package for him at FB , I cant see how he will be useful there. He's a slot guy. Amaro lining up in the backfield has disaster written all over it to me. A solid TE is on the offseason priority list , but still no reason Amaro cant fill a void.
Amaro should bulk up to at least 400 lbs, while also improving his speed. If he can do that, he'll be a great TE.
Amaro will suffice. He's a 2nd round pick and was injured all last year. I bet his blocking gets better this offseason. 600 yards and 6 TDs for Amaro this year
Is a blocking TE that can catch a short Fitz pass once in a while that hard to find nowadays? Shit. Brandon Marshall's wife could probably do it.
You have to realize that no TE coming out of college blocks. That's something they have to pick up while in the pros. The better they block in the pros, the more plays they get. No one is going to draft a TE that can block but can't catch. Amaro was a rookie two years ago, rookies drop passes. Just ask Enunwa and Smith. Even Wesley Walker dropped a lot of balls his first year. Even so, Amaro caught more passes than the No. 1 TE in the draft that year and that's with Geno throwing. Could he catch better?.....yes.....could he block better?.....yes. In my opinion, he had an decent rookie season given all the turmoil that year (4-12).
Does he because all of remember from Amaro was mini camp and training camp updates of him dropping plenty of passes. Hopefully I'm wrong because we need a te
That's total Bs that no Te that comes to the pro's can block. There are a lot of Te's than get drafted for their ability to just block. ( extension of the running game) T Bowles and his coaching staff are looking for certain qualities from their Te. You want to play that TE position you have to demonstrate you can block. Why Jace Amaro after coming off a decent rookie year was so far down their Te depth chart.( different staff- he didn't get hurt wasn't going to get that much time in the offense anyway. ( Go look up training camp reports how he was so far down the depth chart). If he stayed healthy would have a H-back / Fb role with the team, but wouldn't have lined up at Te. To even talk about him an option at Te is ridiculous. Jmo a good chance he might not be long for this Jet team.
I get don't all the hate for Amaro. Thought he played pretty well his rookie year. I have high hopes for him and think he would have been the third option in the passing game this past year
