THE SAD part is we have all seen this movie before ( too may times ) and we know exactly how it ends. It does not take a genius to see that Bowels does not learn from mistakes ,whether he is stuborn or stupid matters not , he does not change . Personel "might not be on him " as far as who is on this team but who plays and who does is on him, coaching them up is on him. play calling ,clock management, all the rest is on him and it is bad ! Good coaches put their players and teams in the best positions to succeed this guy is clueless ! Why wait another year ? I really do not understand that ? If this was a young team that they were building and they were losing because of inexperience and lack of talent that is the only pass I would give him . We are going into year 3 and most likely starting from scratch regarding persomel and we still do not know who our qb is , simply amazing. As I said if they were young and we were seeing them try hard and give an effort but were just being outclassed I could live with it, heck if we had a slew of injuries I might even give you that instead we have a coach who "we hope is going to get better and learn from his many mistakes " cant we just hire a guy who has a clue ?
I'm thinking that because only the Browns fire coaches every 2 years. But we are quickly becoming the Browns so who knows.
Yeah, defensive coordinators make terrible head coaches! Look at this list of terrible head coaches who used to be DCs: Pete Carroll, bill parcells, bill belichick, Tom Landry, chuck noll, mike tomlin, Marty scottenheimer, don Shula....... Not one of those guys fielded an aggressive offense........
Herm Edwards 5 years Eric Mangini 3 years Rex Ryan 6 years Don't let facts get in the way of your irrational Jets are becoming the Browns fears though.
yep - a good QB will make pretty much any coach look good. I cba to dig out the post again but every consistently good team over the last decade has had a top tier QB on the roster during that time, its a bit chicken and egg - our coaches will all look bad until we get a good QB and a good QB would make our coaches look good! I still dream of what could have been had Rex had a good QB in those early years
Oh yeah, guys like Jeff hostetler, vinny testaverde, mark Malone, David woodley, Carl brumbaugh, Matt cassel, Elvis Grbac, Craig Morton.......these coaches never won without HOF talent at QB. You guys crack me up.
In another post on another site, the thread was about should he be fired at end of year. the consensus was more to go then to stay... Most said - which included me - that it all depended on how the team is prepared, how they play and if they get better. IMHO, yesterday's stinker was just another nail in Bowles coffin. To have a guy with Petty's arm and then hand cuff him with an "ultra conservative" GP + play not to lose is beyond comprehension and reality. He must live with Dr Strange in an alternate reality because he clearly is coaching this team like it is playing in another dimension. If Woody had any balls he fire him now along with DC who really sucks eggs... put CG in as interim HC, elevate the QB coach as OC and elevate B Cox ad DC. AND play all the young guys, sit the veterans like Revis and harris and let the fking kids play...this way you can evaluate the talent or lack thereof and see what your needs are - besides QB, OL, ILB, pass rusher, CB, FS, etc.
To get rid of Bowles and Rogers, I'd do it. Plus, with Gailey the HC, Patullo would be the OC, calling the plays and coming up with the offensive game plans. Can he be any worse than Gailey?
Because Chan did so well at Dallas and Buffalo that he needs to immediately be promoted? Again I don't get this. Talent can by and large be evaluated in practice. We don't see it, that doesn't mean it's not the best way to evaluate talent. They dont need to play on Sunday in order to be evaluated.
Not true with all players. A prime example is Brady. Even his first game was only so-so. BB had no clue that Brady would become the QB he did. Players can only learn so much practicing. They need to get on the field in games. Some players ratchet up the intensity on the playing field, and it's not because they dog it in practice. Something just happens when they stop on the playing field . Call it their competitive spirit or whatever.
You're right and I'm sick of it. I'd love to get a guy like Tomlin in here. In fact I thought Bowles was going to bring that mind set. Arizona is always attacking on defense and pushing the ball on offense (or trying to) and I thought he would bring some of that here but I guess that's all Arians
+10000 Gailey has been a HC and I don't know what an Oc the other will make However make them both INTERIM till end of season and then reevaluate
Actually this isn't true. There's some footage on the ESPN Brady love fest documentary about this. He was the fourth QB in 2000, inactive through the season, but they saw enough to keep him. By 2001 they promoted him to second string and cut the other backups based on his strong practice play. Nobody just walks onto an NFL field for a good coach, not even #1 picks. The only way to earn playing time is, and should be, practice. Of course, we're talking about the Jets here, so we play Vernon Gholston and Dee Milliner ... Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
