Ok just over mid-way through the season and you need a back for your team , both are available with their current stats to date , who would you take and why?

Long term I'd take Bush still but based on what we have seen leon is light years ahead of reggie.

Based on what I know right now, Leon is out there working hard and mentoring under Martin. His game is already showing much more promise rushing the ball compared to Reggie, and Reggie is probably on a better team talent wise. Plus, you can't buy too deeply into the hype that is Reggie Bush. So far it has been a lot of hot air.

Straight up, probably Bush but... Keep in mind with Bush comes a massive contract and that means losing other players. Say goodbye to Pennington among others.

If I ran things, RB would be the last position I would spend big $ on. I go with the Denver approach. Spend the money on 0-line and sign cheap running backs to run behind them.

you have to take into consideration the fact that bush is also a huge receiving threat and returns punts. the saints use him as a decoy a lot to help others get open - that doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

edit: uhhh - i thought i voted reggie but i'm showing up as having voted for leon.

I love Washington, but you'd be crazy not to take Bush. I know he's been shut down for 2 weeks in a row, but he could be the best runningback in football as early as next season.

Before the draft, you were begging for us to trade up for Bush.

Definitly Reggie. He has more potential than Leon and has a better chance to turning into a future star.

Actually before the draft I was begging for us to trade down and draft DeAngelo Williams, but I'm liking this turnout much better. The entire draft after williams went off the board, I just wanted a RB.

I picked Leon, mainly because I've had what seems like a weird, anti-Reggie vendetta since before the draft. I just didn't see Bush being a great NFL back. Reggie is a dancer, and the only time I've seen a back succeed that way was Sanders.

People kept talking about how Bush could redefine the game. But they said the same thing about Vick. NFL Football is a big game, and I think it changes Bush's style, not the other way around.

Bush just jumped about 8 feet in the air to score his first offensive TD in the league.

I have to admit, I'd take Reggie Bush if I was given the choice. If anything, you could trade Bush away for an insane amount of picks.

Leon has been awesome diamond in the rough pick for the Jets. The kid runs with deceptive toughness and great quickness. He seems to have a team-first attitude and a good head on his shoulders. He's worked hard for that starting role, and he's earned it. Right now, I'm so frickin' pleased with how the draft came out.

Sorry, not true. Your posts regarding Bush were on April 26 and April 28, and the draft was on April 29.

Edit: the second post was after Williams was signed, but I don't believe the first one was.

Right now, Leon is the better player; do you not think that Leon can be a future star? And if not, why? The only reason why you can't see it is because the hype was not there coming out of college.

Let me ask you this, would you take Rashaan Salaam or Terell Davis? Ki-Jana Carter or Frank Gore?

Perception is reality, and going from what the running game was before and after Leon has gotten some time is night and day. The Saints have more talent than the Jets and they are veteran players. Case closed!

Finally, do you think that Leon can do the same things on speacial teams that Bush can do? That was a nice kick return in the pre-season and he can run punts too. Apparently, Bush is not better that Justin Miller on special teams. If Leon gets more passes out of the backfield, you'll see the other dimension.
