Cedric Houston- Hes been out the last couple of games but came back this week against the bears and was running real good from what i saw and was doing the same before he got hurt Leon washington- showes great potential but lacks size. Has really made some great plays over the last few games and keeps getting better Kevin Barlow- Hasnt really got many carries latley but we did trade for him Derrick Blaylock- Hasnt really stepped on the feild in a while Curtis My Favorite Martin- If youre a jet fan you have to consider him but he did say that retirement is a strong possibility Draft a runningback If we are going to draft a runnningback we have to do it high in the draft and hope he's a dam good runner. Tell me some of the prospects you have in line!!!! Voice your opinion b/c if we're going to be playoff or even superbowl contenders then we need a strong run game!!!
Well considering Martin will retire and Blaylock will be cut I think we rotate the 3 based on the defense we are playing. Of course the 3 being Barlow, Washington and Houston
I'd really like to see them give Houston a bunch of carries against Houston next week. He doesn't go down on the first hit and almost averaged 5 yards a carry against the Bears. Mix in Leon for a change of pace, and just have Barlow in for goal line packages...
If we are in position to draft Kenny Irons or Marshawn Lynch this offseason we should do it. Both are smart, explosive runningbacks who would change the face of our offense. Washington and Houston are both good secondary options, but I don't see either as a longterm starter.
Might not be around but his injury could push him pretty far back in the draft. It'd be taking a chance but it might be worth it...Adrian Peterson from Oklahoma. Suffered from an injury that wasn't as bad as McGahee's injury in the Nat'n Championship and look how he is turning out. It's risky but you never know what you could find
Leon Washington and Cedric Houston (Thunder and Lightning) should split the carries for the next decade. Cut barlow and blaylock.
I've always like Houston. I feel he can do the job. He has the qualities of both a downhill and shifty runner. When we were down on the goal line, there was one cut that Barlow wasn't able to make which would have put him in the end zone. If that was Houston, that's a TD. I guess it all depends on various packages which the coaches have been doing very well this season.
i say turner even if we have to give up a 2nd round pick because he is restricted. this guy averages 6 yards per carry this year and is absolutely a beast. never goes down on initial contact, carries guys on his back. he has the potential to be one of the best backs in this league.
I think our current stable of runningbacks compliment each other pretty well, and the O-line is starting to make a few holes for them finally. Once that gets more consistent, I think our running game will be the least of our problems. We would have rushed for 150 yards easily today with a decent passing attack.
