Every time I see that 2014 draft brought up in any context it literally makes me cringe. I know probably everybody else has moved on with their lives but for some reason I STILL can't believe how little Jace Amaro ended up accomplishing after all the glowing things I watched on TV about him at the time. For whatever reason him in particular for me.
Queue the “the Pro Bowl is just a popularity contest” responses. He made the Pro Bowl and he’s been consistently one of our best defensive players with little help around him.
Finding a top flight pure pass rusher is much easier said then done, being that this type of talent at that position isn't something that exactly grows on trees. The majority of the time teams won't even let a player like that even hit free agency to begin with, let alone trade them. This would be a nice luxury to add to the roster, but the way I see it is that the Jets have other holes that need to be filled this coming off-season starting with our Oline. Sam was running for his life too much for my liking last Thursday and if this doesn't get addressed, Sam won't see the end of his career.
Acting like true professionals and playing like men, those days are long gone. Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry , Chuck Knoll - all winners of past SBs wouldn't put up with this sh&t. That stupid show that Crowell pulled on the TD run - he should be suspended for at least 1 game. This team is ALL TALK and ALL SHOW but no action.
he might be our best defensive player but that's like getting pizza in Montana and saying its "the best"
Mac didn't send all the picks and the kitchen sink to trade up and draft this kid. So it is his fault. Agreed?
FWIW i wouldn't call henderson a bust. dude was well on his way to ebing a beast and then was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident and never recovered enough to play in the NFL. He only had 2 seasons but had all the looks of a steal in the 4th round about to turn the corner I'd also say picks prior to mac really don't matter. we all know how bad old GMs have drafted. Mach has gotten us adams, maye, williams, lee, anderson, and jenkins. that's 5 of our 11 starters on defense drafted in the last 4 years by mac and a starting WR. He also just landed us a potential FQB we haven't had in a long time. we can make a run at demarcus lawerence and fowler jr this offseason as well
He didn't have a good year for Detroit playing on the franchise tag still I think the Jets should go hard after Ziggy Ansah (the answer) this upcoming offseason. Just don't make him the highest paid defensive player ever stupid stuff like that.
Agree with you but IMO the worst pick of 2014 was third round for McDougle. Undersized, hurt almost his entire senior year of college, most teams had him as undrafted free agent, and Idzik/Ryan waste a high 3rd rounder on him.
Well they had to top the prior year's bust - which to me was one of the stupidest picks ever - Dee "I'm Always Injured" Milliner, I mean I'm surprised Milliner didn't hurt himself waling up to the podium on draft day.
I would sign Clowney if we aren't in a position to draft Bosa. Never would have said that last year about Clowney. He impressed the hell out of me this season with his versatility and athleticism.
Here's an article from earlier today on some of the top potential free agents for 2019 including pass rushers. The Jets better have a plan in place because there's going to be a lot of competition for the likes of Ford, Lawrence, Clowney and Clark depending on which ones make it to the open market. https://bleacherreport.com/articles...s-for-top-players-expected-to-hit-open-market
