Absolutely. There is no clear cut top of the board. We desperately need a corner stone LT. Unless Josh Allen is the end all be all, we can snag whatever LT we want at 3 or at 5. At 5 might be more justifiable.
Someone should add a poll: are you rooting for the jets to win or lose on Sunday? Easy question for me, even though I’m almost always pro-tank. The circumstances are lined up for a win to be almost entirely beneficial.
Beats the Pats. A lot of our starters will be back next season for better or worse. It’ll send a message: We can beat you with terrible coaching. Just wait until we have a professional calling the shots. Beating a team on its last legs of Super Bowl dominance would mess with their heads on their way into the playoffs, and could contribute to their ultimate unraveling. Send the message...change is coming, and it’s name is Sam Darnold. Ok, back to reality now. We’ll probably get smoked.
I have to question the fandom of anyone that doesn’t want our 21-year-old rookie and likely franchise QB to finish his first year by ruining homefield advantage for the Patriots on the road in Foxboro.
"You play to the win the game", and thats the way I root for the Jets. I have LOVED the last two games in which the team looked solid, Darnold looked great, and we didn't hurt our draft pick. However this one, would be nice if we one. No doubt it would be demoralizing for the Pats*** and their fans. GO Jets.
I added a poll. Multiple choice available. No matter what you pick, please also make sure to select Brady is gay option. Cheers!
Looking at the prospects available this year and the Jets' roster needs, I'd agree that there's a huge difference between #1 and #5, but I'd have to also say there's not much difference at all between #2 and #5. Since there's about a 96% chance the Jets will be picking between #2 and #4 either way, I say BEAT THE CHEATS!
Here's the dilemma. It looks like, notwithstanding my hypo, that we have every little shot at the 1. Even a loss and the best we'll likely we can get is the 2 which is extremely valuable if there is a QB that multiple teams covet. But not likely so it looks like we are locked into the 3, probably the 4 and at worst the 5. And the Pats winning could give them the 2 and home field until the Championship game. And them losing could knock them into a game next week, no bye and then on the road for the duration. So I'm kind of leaning towards a Jet win--would feel great and we're not destroying our draft position and we'd be hurting the Pats. But what if...we play inspired, we crush the Pats, Sam looks good, the defense kills Brady. Does that open up the remote possibility...that Bowles is brought back? I'm almost rooting for a loss just to 100% lock down insure Bowles is gone.
This x1000. Future of the Jets / potential to get Bosa is far far greater than one measly win against the Pats that won't change much at all in the long run.
Bowles is definitely gone either way. Root for the win. It's better for us, and much worse for the Pats. No need to complicate it beyond that.
I will hunt you down if we crush the Pats and Bowles is back. But I think I'm leaning for a total beat down of Brady and that cheating piece of shit of a franchise. Would feel really good going into the offseason. If this was going to knock us from 4 to 10 I'd be less enthusiastic.
Beating the Pats this week pretty much will end their chances of reaching the Super Bowl. They are not the same team away from Foxboro, where they have cheating down to a science as minute as which bathroom to deflate game balls in. And being old and a little beat up, the extra game will make the path that much more difficult. We have a chance to put a huge dagger in the end of this dynasty. That along with the experience of Darnold learning how to win against Belichick in Foxboro, where no rookie QB has won, is WAY more important than 1-2 spots in the draft order.
It's really a tough argument. A lot of good points on both sides......If the Jets were guaranteed the #1 with a loss I'd say lose. However what really is the difference in this draft between #3 and say #5 ? If the plan is to draft an OT he will be there at # 5 at least one of them. If the plan is to shoot for Bosa and somehow he slides one pick the Jets are in position to grab him at 4-12. Really tough question to answer.......Quentin Williams is supposedly the next Aaron Donald. Would say AZ go with him seeing how Donald changes the game up close twice every year ? Would a GM be hesitant to select Bosa given his recent injury ? My guess is Jets play hard but come up short anyway.
Cost them the bye week? First 3 loss December in god knows how long for the Pats*? Sam to stake his claim in fucking Foxborough? YES i want a win. At worst we probably drop to 6 from 3. Still great draft position. All other factors make this entirely worth it.
