Finally a Heavyweight decided to show up this NHL postseason. Big win for the Caps. Finally played Capitals hockey. I think they rallied around each other for Oshie. 6-0 win, reminds me of the Canes 5-0 Game 3 win. Both fed off of their crowds too. The Blues eliminated the Jets. They wait for the winner of the Stars-Preds series, which Dallas now leads 3-2. Tomorrow the Maple Leafs look to eliminate the Bruins (I think it goes 7) and The Golden Knights look to eliminate the Sharks.
Jets were a damn good team but the playoffs require more than just being damn good, or even great like the Lightning. Momentum, teamwork, all the cliches and luck you can think of are needed.
TDK good win for you guys , I was in a tavern watching but man the Canes Goalie IMO was bad = I thought he was out of position quite a few times and late getting back during others.......Ovie getting the puck and assist from behind the canes net was a back breaker ---props to your boys and congrats on the win but they still have 1 more game to win
Congrats TDK Looks like the Caps were able to rally around the Oshie hit and really played by far the best they have all series.
There is no doubt about that. Makes me think fans were too hard on some of those earlier Capitals teams with Ovechkin. It really is difficult to win the Cup, let alone will a Round or 2. There are so many variables. However, if you are great, you want to win, so I get Caps fans upset those years or Lightning fans upset this year. Thank you! They looked like themselves for the first time this series. Yeah, a rare playoff game where a fan can relax a little in the 3rd period. Yep, great game, but nothing is over yet. We know how intense and loud those fans in Carolina can get. Yep. Finally played Caps hockey like I said. It is fair to say the Hurricanes dictated play more than the Capitals the first 4 games. Last night the Caps did. Will they do it again in Game 6, or will the Hurricanes and their fans force a Game 7? I think Game 6 will be like Game 2 and 4. Really close. The key will be Mrazek. If he can reset and play like he has most of the series, the Canes will be fine. This series has been much more intense and action packed than I ever could have expected!
Just as I and many others had feared: #Caps forward TJ Oshie underwent a successful surgical procedure on his fractured right clavicle. Oshie is expected to be out indefinitely. I don't know how long it takes for a broken collarbone to heal, but I have to assume longer than the time remaining in the Stanley Cup playoffs, even if the Caps make it to the Final. Oshie is done til October.
TDK as crazy as it sounds if it happens to a child----mine had this as a little guy ---they do nothing for it and kids bounce back quickly but as an adult = see Oshie ---I think he's done for the year time will tell.
I could have also called it an "establishment " or sometimes we refer to this as the " library " and yes all could be in the drunk tank in fact last night i might have qualified myself
A Short-handed, Double Overtime, Road goal to force a Game 7 and keep your season alive. Crazy. That is why I love playoff hockey so much. And Martin Jones with 58 saves after looking flat out terrible a couple games before this. Remarkable. 2 Game 7's on Tuesday. My playoff predictions have been atrocious, but I did have the Bruins and Sharks in 7. Early congratulations to the Maple Leafs and Golden Knights.
The old saying goes a series doesn’t really start until the home team loses a game. Just hope the Canes do not lay an egg on Wednesday and give the Caps a game. May the best or hungriest team win.
Hopefully this series never starts then! I have cooled down now from that game. I think that Ovechkin goal should have counted. I have seen far worse count as goals. Could have been 3-3, instead quickly was 4-2 instead. However, the Caps had a 2-1 lead and then took their foot off the gas and played soft in the 2nd and 3rd. Unacceptable in a close out game. Can't blame the refs when you could have played much better. Hats off to the Canes for never giving up or rolling over either when they were down. They are a tough bunch, which is why a Game 7 won't be easy and I wanted to finish the series tonight. Mrazek made some great saves when he had to. He bounced back nicely. Now time for Preds-Stars OT!
It should have been a goal; the announcers discussed it was because the refs lost sight of the puck, which is a legit reason. But was that ever confirmed?
Favorites continue to fall, as Predators lose to Stars. Amazingly enough, if the Canes and Leafs win their game 7s the Islanders will have the best record of the eight teams left in the playoffs, and if Vegas also wins their game 7 there will only be two of the nine original 100-point teams left. Talk about wide open!
The explanation I read was Ovechkin pushed Mrazek's pad and that allowed the puck to go over the net, but I don't buy that from all the angles I saw. That is a goal 99% of the time. Mrazek did not have control of the puck and clearly had no idea where it was. Not like he pushed the goalie into the net, which then I would agree should not have been a goal. Irrelevant now, as the game is over, the series is tied 3-3, and Game 7 is Wednesday. Move on as Ovechkin said, but at the time it was really frustrating. The Stars eliminated the Predators in Overtime, meaning 3 of the 4 division winners have been eliminated (Tampa Bay, Calgary, Nashville) The only division winner left is the Capitals. Crazy. We finally have a Round 2 Match-Up official, as the Dallas Stars will face the St. Louis Blues. 3 Game 7's: Toronto vs. Boston Tuesday (winner plays the Columbus Blue Jackets) Vegas vs. San Jose Tuesday (winner plays the Colorado Avalanche) Carolina vs. Washington Wednesday (winner plays the New York Islanders)
