I know we "tried" but I'm baffled we couldn't find a way to trade up for one the 2nd round CBs. And luckily we went with a blocking TE in the fourth after trading down instead of taking Love.
There have been rumors all offseason about Waynes and Rhodes. Add in Slay. Maybe we can get one of them. Slay is probaby too rich and Waynes and Rhodes could be options at the right price. The other rumor is Corey Linsley in Green Bay at center. Jenkins is listed as a guard. So we'll see but maybe we can get him too. If none of those four happen like Gase or someone above mentioned we'll get someone off the waiver wire. A surprise cut or two happens every year and a contributing veteran becomes available. I think Harrison might start week 1 but a veteran with experience will back him up. As for cb I think end of August if not before the Jets will add a veteran cb or two who will play week 1.
I don't think we could afford to trade up. We aren't going all in for this season, and there was no reason to burn additional picks to add a CB this season, particularly when there were a number of good CBs available in FA and Mo Claiborne is still out there (I think). If anything, the Jets should have traded down garnered a 2nd and some additional picks and taken either a C or CB with that 2nd round pick. If they also had gotten a 3rd round pick, there were also some good CB prospects still available in the 3rd and 4th rounds. David Long, Justin Layne, Jamel Dean, Mike Edwards all went in the 3rd round, and Julian Love, Kendall Sheffield, Iman Lewis-Marshall, and Ugo Amadi went in the 4th round.
I read we had the option to swap 3/4 with Oakland get 35 overall in the process Could have gotten a Corner there.
Corner, center wr, etc. Round 1 take Josh Allen or Ed Oliver. Round 2: Jawan Taylor, Debo Samuel, Greg Little, Cody Ford, Sean Bunting etc. I would've been happy with that.
Are you saying that Oakland was willing to give us the #4 pick and the #35 pick for the #3 pick? If so, that is a deal that should have been made, and damn Mac for not making it. Even if he didn't think that was enough, he could possibly have traded down from #35 and garnered at least an additional 4th round pick and maybe a 3rd depending upon how far down he was willing to trade.
This +1.. Amazing how some see each draft class as the same and that there will always be willing partners---every year---growing on trees and happy to sacrifice draft capital to move up.....esp. when it would benefit the other team more (which in this case would've been the Jets). . But there were those who were convinced that Gruden was looking to dump David Carr, and that the Broncos, Giants, Washington and others were all tripping over each other to get the #3 pick as well. . Turns out everybody pretty much sat still (predictably): . the G-men got their boy Jones, Washington (even after signing Keenan) got Haskins and Denver (after signing Flacco) traded down with Pitt knowing they'd still be able to land Lock later in the draft. Could see this (pre-draft) non-activity coming a mile away. . Indeed even Macc would've jumped on a 3 for 4 plus a pick(s) in a heartbeat.
That’s what I heard. I’m not sure what Macc was holding out for honestly. Like you said even if it wasn’t enough that was a deal we could have benefitted from
How many preseason warriors have we seen? Hackenberg was a star in the preseason, Ratliff threw bombs to Clowney.
