I wasn't able to watch yesterdays game because I had work to do. I taped the game but I can't say I am going to watch the tape after that terrible display. However, after the lose I refused to check the message boards. Well today I finally brought myself to come and see what everyone had to say. No suprise here. The messages could all be merged into three categories. Chad sucks, same old Jets, or blind optimism. Whether your gripe is Chad begin a terrible QB, being washed up or it being time to move on without him. Then again if that doesn't suit you just check one of the posts that refers to the team as the same old Jets.

Isn't anyone else sick of this. One week people are saying how Chad has proved everyone wrong and could be up for comeback player of the year. The next week there is an actual post about taking him out in the 2nd quarter for RAMSEY or CLEMENS. This isn't baseball. If your start doesn't have it you can't go to the bullpen. When this season started I and others on this board were laughed at for believing this team had a chance to go .500. Now the Jets lose a game to a team that had been very competive of late and this team is an utter dissapointment.

This is a rebuilding or retooling year depending on your football philosophy. The Jets were not expected to even be in playoff contention. The only contention they were suppose to be in was for the top pick in the draft. John Clayton was quoted as saying the only competitive game the Jets could get was if they could get Hofstra to come play them. Jet fans should be proud of this team and staff. For a first time in a long time the talent that the team has is being coached. The game plan works to the teams strengths and anyone who has watched the full season can see improvement. The last game was a step back yes, just as beating the Pats was a giant step forward. Young teams, which the Jets are have let down games like yesterdays. Its just to bad that the majority (not all) people on this board can't understand that and/or accept that.

This team has already surpassed almost everyone's expectations yet there isn't much positive to be said on the Gang Green of late. To bad.

    That is my Rant
    Jetman.

P.S. What happened to supporting the team and getting to games and being loud. If you don't want to go to the game give your tickets to other Jets fans. I am sure there are a ton of people who would love to be there.

Please tell me what you think and feel.

    Good rant dude

I agree with you somewhat. Sometimes this board goes nuts when we lose and it can sour you.

But Chad did have a BAD game. Does that mean that we should bench him, trade him, ect. No it does not. But Some plays that Chad made is head scratching to say the least. He threw a terrible pass that Clements picked and returned for six.

I know we were expected to be real bad this year and with seven wins this teams has more than exceeded my expectations. I am totally fine with not making the playoffs this year. This team has shown a lot of improvment and has grown a lot. They have shown that they play hard for their coach and this system that has put in is good.

This team does have seven win with not that good of talent.

We need a CB, rush LB, ILB, DT, RB, RT, FB.

We have a lot of holes and in my opinion the best thing about this season is that our coaching staff has proven that they can coach with little talent. We have the worst roster in the AFC east and we can still win the division... fingers crossed. Everybody should take a step back and really think about how crazy that really is.

    mmmmmmm back to back rants.

I'm not sure why you ended your post this way, when the rest of it was complaining about other people doing exactly that - saying what they think and feel.

My contribution to the main forum since Sunday has basically been to say that the entire team - offense, defense, coaching - looked awful on Sunday. I refused to say that Chad was the main culprit in the thread that was about that, but I certainly thought that he was horrible against the Bills. I also said that I would like Clemens to start if and when the Jets lose one more game, and that I think that the Jets need to be moving on next year in breaking in a new QB, since I don't think Pennington is capable of doing what is necessary any longer.

I don't view any of these views as particularly extreme, but perhaps others do. I also have no problem with anyone who wants to say that Chad sucks or it's the same old Jets, or, for that matter, that the Jets will run the table, make the playoffs, and get to the Super Bowl. IMO that is precisely what this forum is for. As long as discourse is civil, people are entitled to their opinions, and to be honest, I find the posts complaining about people complaining more annoying than the original complaining.

I said this before and Ill say it again no matter what chad does during the week. He is not the quarterback of the future. Great guy, won us some games, but he will always have those stinkers mixed in with some good games. But in now way will he take us to the Superbowl, just like herm, he do some good things but in the end burn you some how with his dumb decisions. Chad is not Tom brady, joe montana or anyone great. He is an average quarterback. I dont hate the guy just do not think he is the guy. I was not one of ones who jumped on the chad bandwagon after the Green Bay game but it is funny to listen to people all of sudden saying he is the man cause i knew he would have a stinker again soon.

Good rant. I feel quite the same way. I think the reason this goes on is Chad was on the bubble, big time, when the season started. He got off to a great start and that ook some heat off. Then he slumped for 3 games; then rebounded in Green Bay. Now he goes lame against Buffalo. The point is prior to this year, he has had some success, but not consistent prolonged success. Obviously, the prior injuries are a factor. He was eating up salary cap and we were getting nothing for it.

While he has come back to an extent this year, I would not call it a marquis year, or a pro-bowl year by anyone's standards. He still hasn't put the bubble behind him yet. Right now, his history is his worst enemy. That, and he never had great arm strength to begin with, so with the shoulder surgeries, anytime he screws up, people will always tie his lack of performance to that.

Unfortunately, Chad has been branded. Just a tough spot for anyone to be in.

I agree with the rant. And I posted esewhere that I will not visit this site for 6 hours after the Jets lose. Besides if we make the playoffs, we're not beating Baltimore or San Diego or Indy on the road and probably not NE. If we lose another game and move up a couple draft spots, it could be a good thing long term.

It's always like that especially in NY. the Giants lose 4 in a row and beat a bad panthers teams for their first win in 5 weeks and all of a sudden they are "back" while the Jets lose a game and we are finished. The same thing happens w/ the baseball teams when they have a win or losing streak.

I'm about as big a Jets fan as anyone on here. I mostly read this message board to see what my fellow fans have to say, but a lot of the losses cannot be held against Pennington alone. The NYJ need a running attack, period. Houston and Washington are just not getting it done weekly. With the future of Martin uncertain I believe that they need to build up a better offense around the running game. While we have a lot of weapons in the wide-out positions we just cannot rely on the passing attack every game. I know that the running game has had some signs of success, but there needs to be one hard-nosed tough running back to pull the offensive weight as well as Chad throwing it down the field a few times. There may be some that do not agree with me, but I'm thinking that there are some that do agree as well.

The reactions from the ?superfans? are equally as abhorrent. Not only do we get to hear about all of the reactionary backlash against the Jets and Chad and the coaching staff ? we also get threads where members can come in and pat themselves on the back for being so much better than all this.

This can take the form of a ?the crowd was awful yesterday? where the true fans can chastise the rest of Jet nation for not being loud or staying until the end and relish in how much better they are than this, whether they go to the games or not.

Then there are threads where we can all gripe at how bipolar the board is, and it?s so bad we have to stay away after losses or other nonsense. Lets just have a group hug right now because we?re so much better than everyone else.
