And the market value at that time was not 17m a year for an ILB. And it's still not market value. Mosley contract will be a rare one. TEAMS, yes plural were not willing to pay 17M a year. He's overpaid. Deal with it. Like I said when Wagner doesn't get 17m a year, your point of the argument will be nullified.
not sure why you don't understand that market value is whatever a team is winning to pay. by definition whatever a player made is market value. doesn't mean you cna't think he isn't worth it or that the jets overpaid. it's 3 different things. for example from the list i think sammy watkins 19.2 mil against the cap this season is insane. but they paid it so it's market value. I don't think he's worth it. that's top money. for example deandre hopkins is 14mil, ODB is 18 mil a year average. watkins isn't even in the same league as those 2. but still that is his market value since a team was willing to pay it. doesn't mean it was smart or a good deal. Not sure why you don't see the difference in what market value is compared to how a fan sees a players value. we aren't the market, the teams are the market, their spending is the market value.
yeah it's crazy how people don't understand basic concepts of the NFL who spend all this time on a forum. Like I get average joe who watches 2 games a year not knowing but people on forums are usually the know all the details type since they spend hours and hours every week discussing this stuff. I mean i have another person here not understanding market value lol said i have a different definition then everyone, i posted the definition form dictonary.com and they ignore it and still say i'm wrong lol
What I am saying is the Market Value for ILBs and CJ Mosley was not at 17M a year when CJ initially entered FA. It clearly became a bidding war and the Jets outbidded for CJ Mosley's services. They had to overpay for his services. The market value for ILBs will not continue to be 17M a year. Essentially the contract is nothing more than an anomaly. You clearly aren't getting my point, but hey go ahead and talk about other irrelevant players.
lol and yet here you are not knowing the concept of a player being overpaid. Was that the first time you used the term Market Value, since ya had to look it up?
So like I said, they had to overpay for CJ Mosley's services, there is no reason to beat around the bush. Otherwise if the Jets and Ravens stood at a stand-still at 13M-15M (which could have INITIALLY been his market value), where was CJ going to go? Mosley's production is not worth 17M a year. But I am happy he's here. But like I said, lets see what happens with Wagner.
CJ would have gone to the Ravens which is why we went up. The Ravens couldn't go up because of the dead cap for Flacco that they are taking this year.
Mosley is worth every single penny because he's a winner and a team leader. And this team needs that desperately the contract that sucks is Trumaine Johnson at $15 million who has already mailed it in and you can't get out of it.
I agree, he's here because he can help change the culture, Jets overpaid for that. I want to re-iterate, I don't have an issue with the signing, but the reality is he's overpaid. He's not Luke Kuechly who is on a completely different level. Jets are stuck with the Trumaine contract until at least 2021, hopefully Gregg Williams brings him back to form.
that's not what market value. market value is whatever they can earn on the open market. by definition (5th time saying this) a players market value is whatever a team pays them. I literally posted the definition form dictionary.com you don't understand market value clearly and instead of listening you are arguing for whatever reason. we aren't going to get anywhere like that so i guess nothing more to say here. overpaid =/= over market value he was paid market value, the jets don't feel they overpaid for his talent level. You are welcome to feel they did. and no i posted it for you which confirms i was right about it. you said and i quote "you must have a different definition of market value then everyone else" so i posted the definition which shows I was correct and you are now angry about that and slinging insults
"yeah it's crazy how people don't understand basic concepts of the NFL who spend all this time on a forum" Who is starting what? Says the guy that tried using a few screenshots to judge Baker Mayfield This ain't your first rodeo, and I recall a certain mod calling you out, so don't play the innocent game. I am not the one that had to look up dictionary.com for a definition that you probably didn't know. You do this all of the time, but hey enjoy your opinionated last word. Mosley is OVERPAID, the end.
overpaid? up to each person to decide that for themselves but none of our opinions really matter that. not over market value though which was the point. and lol @ a mod calling me out. all i did was act like you are doing now and how the other user was acting to prove a point so thanks i'll be reporting this
5 years in the league, 4 pro bowls. Not to shabby so I dont know how much we overpaid or if we did. I'm still of the mindset that if someone thinks youre worth $17 mil per, your worth $17 mil per. For all we know the jets were willing to go to $19 mil per so they feel like they got a bargain. Its what the marker bears
I have no issue with signing Mosley and there is nothing wrong with being overpaid. The general consensus from many is that we overpaid, but we have that luxury right now. The team sorely needs his leadership. Jets pushed the market high and it could create new expectations for future ILBs. No one else was willing to go to 17M a year for Mosley, only us.
bingo! like kirk cousins is on the list and got 3 years 86mil fully guaranteed and people say he got overpaid it's above market value, but the jets offered 90mil so really the vikings got him below market value because he wanted to be on a better team he took less money. It's such a basic concept that seems lost on too many people
ALso its so fluid. All you need is a couple of FA LBs next offseason who break the bank and then our overpayment becomes a deal.
How is Kirk Cousins #1 yet Jimmy Bustappolo somehow didn't even make the cut for this list? 'Jimmy G' coulda easily been #1. Kirk Cousins is a good NFL QB. Overpaid yes but undoubtedly a productive, consistant NFL player at a important position. Even included a player that has yet to play a game with his new team at #8. Stupid frickin' media and their agendas. Just more examples of why I don't take many of their opinions seriously anymore.
