yeah I still don't get all the jimmy g love and hype personally. this is a guy who threw 94 passes his 1st 3 seasons got traded away and then has only played 9 games in the next 2 years combined but is getting paid 27.4 mil a year. in his 5 year career he has less then 3k yards 17TDs and 8 INTs.
Because Kirk Cousins contract was a win now contract that absolutely screwed the Vikings since their window is shut. Jimmy G's contract has him tied up at a reasonable number through 2022 and they can cut him after this year with very little dead cap hit. Jimmy G contract was a very good contract for the 49ers. Cousins contract is a disaster for the Vikings.
And that's basically the contract that Macc offered Cousins. They dodged a bullet the size of an elephant.
We will have to wait to see what Wagner, Leonard and the Cowboys linebackers get. It might not be 17M year but we shall see!
it doesn't work like that. it's fluid. Bell got offered a bigger deal from pitt and turned it down because he felt his market value was higher, he wound up finding out his market value was lower. TOm brady is paid under market value and dos it to save his team cap. Cap space doesn't win super bowls and actually all the teams that do win it are usually cap poor. No reason not to spend money
Until we see the #s, then we will see if Mosley is overpaid. So yeah, it will work like that. Right now, contract is widely seen as overpaid.
we already seen the numbers. "overpaid" is simply just a subjective opinion of someone who's opinion doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. (just to make it clear so you don't take it as an insult, what i mean is the only opinion that matters on whether a player overpaid or not on the jets is joe douglas and maybe the johnsons if they push a GM to release someone. My opinion and your opinion on it doesn't really matter) Let me put it more like this, You have regular people on forums complaining about the way a millionaire spends the money of a billionaire. The reality is why should we care? the only thing we should care about is winning games. Cap room doesn't help you win a game. it can't tackle or catch a football. Money aside, our team is better with mosley on it then without mosley. Only a jet fan would complain about signing a 4 time pro bowler and 4 time 2nd team all pro over a couple of million dollars of someone else's money
I think hes overpaid, you don't. We will leave it at that. All that other stuff, leave it for the birds bro. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
He looks like he's straight out of central casting to play Superman in a (next?) movie. He's a face. The proverbial face of the franchise. That's my theory. In reality he's done nothing on the field to warrant that contract. That contract is soooo bad it's one of if not the worst contract in NFL history.
Cousins is a stud. A proven stud. He's just not a superstud or the type to carry a franchise on his back type. He needs help. It's not his fault some NFL people lost their minds and started throwing insane cash his way. I'm looking at his production wow he's good really good. If someone were to tell me that Sam Darnold's next four seasons would look like Cousins last four seasons my reply would be I'LL TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before their sentence is finished.
I'd be interested in reading the technical distinctive differences between a "stud" and a "superstud".
And everyone thought we overspent to resign Enunwa. Since then hes been passed by players who arent as good as he is. Its really fluid.
Ruh roh! I won’t pile on but I disagreed with the “Mosley’s contract will be an anomaly” thing for this exact reason. This is how it goes. Every top tier player to sign a new contract will be the highest paid player at their position. When Jamal gets his deal, he’s gonna be the highest paid safety. A year later he won’t be.
Wagner deserved it. Hey Ill take the L on that. I still think while Mosley is a great player he's no Wagner that's what makes him overpaid in my opinion.
With the Wagner deal I'll take the L on that. Wagner is still on a completely different level then Mosley.
It will be interesting to see the actual structure of Wagner's contract. Mosley has $51 million fully guaranteed over the first 3 years vs$ 40.2 million for Wagner.
