    ~ ~ ~ NY Jets

Despite rookie Kellen Clemens? ascendancy to the primary backup QB role in Week 14, we hear that, barring injury, Chad Pennington will remain the Jets? starter the rest of the season. Word is Clemens, the team?s second-round pick, won a three-day competition with ex-backup Patrick Ramsey prior to the Jets-Bills game. We hear that elevating Clemens to serve as Pennington?s backup is a clear statement by the Jets that they are positioning Clemens, who they believe is a better quarterback physically ? thanks to his superior arm strength and mobility ? than Pennington, to compete for the starting job in 2007. While Pennington?s savvy and intelligence are far superior to Clemens at this point, we hear that Clemens has shown solid improvement, particularly in adjusting to the speed of the game, and has earned the right to take more snaps in practice.

Yep. That's the way to do it.

Take small steps and build up Clemens experience in actually watching the speed of NFL games. Then let him compete next year on an even footing with Chad and take the job if he ties or better.

Mangini seems to understand his locker-room a lot better than many NFL coaches do. He takes steps to bond with the players as a group, like the boxing movies and the March of the Penguins, and he respects the fact that he does not have and never will have total control of the situation.

I'm starting to think that Mangini may be the best apple to fall off of the Parcell's/Belichik tree before he's done. He's young enough not to be bitter at his failures and he seems to get genuine pleasure out of his team's successes.

Hopefully when Clemens bursts on to the scene, he can be successful quickly. Take others by surprise like Tony Romo. Lead this team to a Super Bowl. He won't be in there unless the coaching staff finds him to be better than Chad. And when he is better than Chad, how can you argue the move? :)

I think Chad will be the starter next year, probably his last. But I like the Rivers approach to grooming Clemens for the job. And he'll be ready next year if Chad goes down...

Probably a calculated move to cool Clemens down - maybe he was too casual in practise this week?

I Wish They Traded Clemens For A Toaster Oven

So direspectful to Chad who has clearly put this team on his shoulders.

When healthy, Chad is a winner and one of the very best in the league.

With an improved running game I am looking forward to 5 more years of Cahd taking snaps.

The Jets have faced 9 teams destined to win 12 games in a season with Chad at QB. Their record in those 10 games is 3-7.

They've faced an additional 4 teams that were going to win 10 or 11 games with Chad at QB. Their record in those 5 games is 0-5.

That makes the Jets a cumulative 3-12 with Chad at QB when a team with 10 or more wins is the opponent.

I'm definitely not in the "want to see Chad as our QB for 5 more years camp."

Note that the Jet's record this year against teams that have already won 10 or more games is 1-3 with only the possibility of an additional loss if Jacksonville should get to 10. That makes Chad's overall record against 10+ win teams 4-15 at best at the end of 2006.

Wish Clemens Would Joins a traveling African leopard circus

In essence all Chad's defining loses have been to clearly superior teams, with far more talent in other areas of the field. All these teams have also won or contended for a Super Bow.

    (1) Oakland-2002 , best team in the league all season and AFC representative. (Chad did beat Oakland to get us in playoffs)

    (2) Pittsburgh-2004- Jets should have won this game if not for some poor kicking, poor coaching, and a Santana Moss drop. It's additionally noteworthy that Pittsburgh won the super bowl the very next year.

    (3) The many loses to New England- New England has been the class off the NFL for the 6 years. Edwards v Belichek need I say more.

    (4) 2004 Beat the Chargers in SD with a torn rotator cuff , taking out LT, Brees, Gates, Jamal Williams, Phillips (the core components of the best team in the NFL this year, with a better QB)

    (5) Beat Indianapolis 75-0 in the playoffs.

Match the Jets weapon for weapon against any of the teams aforementioned and the Jets are clearly dominated.

Chad has simply been outstanding .

The Kelly Clemens talk is moronic

Eerily similar to all the Ewing bashing, another superstar who carried us and only lost to superior teams and talent. Ewing, like Chad presently, went severely underappreciated until Eddie Scrubby Curry came into the picture.

Ewing was a winner. Chad is a winner. I hope to god he stays healthy and Clemens joins a traveling African leopard circus

    KOZ, can you imagine?

KOZ, No I can't post , so I have to sit hear and listen to you whine and cry about Cotchary not starting last year. Or the ticket prices being to high. Or there not being enough bathrooms at Giants stadium , or wah wah wah

I can cite to each and every flawed nonsensical post you?ve made in the past 3 years +

As for your Cotchary crying, I will show you the err in your brain process.

Firstly the issue is a red-herring since the Jets record last year would have been the same anyhow.

On the merits though, Edwards could not have given him a job considering he failed to distinguish himself as a receiver when he got playing time. Most notably, when Cherbet wasn't available against Pitt, Cotchary couldn?t get off the line of scrimmage (something he admitted to in an interview earlier this year). He essentially admitted to becoming a receiver in this years off-season mini camp.

KOZ, can you imagine? Is it possible you've been living your life in the blind? every single thought and inclination completely and utterly wrong. How scary is that.

But we will celebrate irreverently when your 3,000thh nonsense post is made. Keep up the good work, scrub.
