Is he truly a wiz or did he cheat his way to the top?

Barry Switzer says “hello” to all those who think coaching matters MoRE than talent

you need both, but players play the game

And be aware that nothing gets me more excited than teams who get coached up and tactics adjusted to their talent and skills - see Miami Wildcat playoff team. Pure coaching genius.

but in the end, the coach can only make just so much chicken salad from chicken shit

  10. FO picks the players. Players play.Coaches Coach but also set the tone. Just like everything else in this sport it’s about balance & cohesion

It starts w a healthy concise & well balanced chain of command where every facet of the operation is is in unision toward achieving the common goal which is ultimately championships & sustained success. Open lines of communication,Productive collaborations, And dynamic leadership willing to stand up when a hard decision needs to be made. No back stabbing,no conflicting agendas, no finger pointing.

It’s not just crowning the Head coach/GM & maybe a coordinator as some miracle worker. It’s developing a long term prototype & an identity to strive for through every single Department.

    Strength & conditioning.Medical/Training staff.player development.Pro personnel.College scouting.Quality control. Asst Coaches.PLAYERS.It all matters. The standard is winning.The standard is success.No excuses.

The team needs to start developing their own leaders within the FO.Identify the best young scouting minds they can, empower them within the evaluation process & hopefully keep them around for a long long time.Thats a big part of an NFL team having an identity as well as drafting well. Not only quality scouts, but ones that have been in place for the long term who understand what a Jet is.Jets havent had this since Joey Clinkscales. He was only 1.They need 3.

Developing a long term prototype is Why I’m beginning to question my fandom.

My criteria is that a "great" coach has to have won at least one SB, and been to several, and has coached multiple playoff teams. HOF coaches are multiple SB winners, plus the other criteria.

Agree with his, but a third element is depth and talent. Just finished watching the videos on Becton and found myself thinking, what if we had a COMPLETE O-Line, and some other positions and some depth, how different would things be...
