There are plays ive seen that the olineman come off the line and actually go out for a pass. I was thinking these would be perfect for brick because he has the athletic skill and body type of a tight end. Just another thing teams would gameplan for.

Not in his rookie season. He needs to focus on blocking, since he's going to be doing it for the rest of his career. Let him gain confidence by driving ends off the line in goal line situations rather then toss him passes. I get what your saying, but we need to protect him, not only for injury, but from a confidence standpoint.

would be a good PA play if we can't stuff it in on the ground.

    God no, please!

You use gadget plays like that on guys like Klecko Jr., guys without much of an identity who are NOT first round- top 5 talent.

Did you ever see an offensive lineman do a sprint on an outside slant while wearing knee braces on both legs? Not pretty I am sure.

Let's save those types of plays for someone whom we don't have so much of our future invested in.

Even if I thought this was a good idea (it is NOT), there are holes in this theory.

    1) He has to report eligible on the line, and another lineman has to come in to take his spot

    2) If he's eligible for a play, then they decide not to do that again, he has to SIT OUT 1 play. Yes, if you report eligible, and then want to go back to ineligible, you have to sit out a play.

Far too dangerous. Like KOZ said, gadget plays like that are not for your important players. You put a guy who is used to solely blocking into a spot where he can take a blind hit, and it's a recipie for disaster. You don't put the future of your club on a single play.

tutt needs to get punished for his poor blocking on MNF

  12. I coukld see RHodes come in for hail mary's and such at WR(w/ that 43 inch vertical)...kinda like how Marcus Coleman did back in the early 00's

You guys act like he's a porcelain doll that will smash to pieces if he catches a ball and gets hit and/or falls over. He is giving/receiving hits from the biggest guys on the field all game all season. Give the big man some glory - I seem to remember Jumbo Elliot catching a pretty big TD pass, he was a pretty important part of our line and didn't break. I'd be willing to bet Brick is more athletic than Elliot was at that time too.

I think it would be a cool play to see and it would probably work.

That was Jumbo Elliot who caught the pass in the Monday Night Miracle but he wasn't nearly as important to the unit as Brick is. Elliot was at that point a journeyman who returned to the "other" NY team to finish off his career. Losing him at that point would not have been critical.

Haven't you seen how easy it is to twist a knee or break a leg and shorten a career/season for a player?

Why look for trouble? His "glory" should be stopping opposing defenses, opening up holes and leading running plays. Leave the highlight film material to the guys who are better suited to it.

Being "athletic" has nothing to do with it.

isht - i knew i was gonna get that wrong - thanks.

I just think it would be cool to see and don't think it's as big of a risk as you do.

Better yet put DRob in the backfield on goal line runs as a lead blocker. He has a very quick straight line burst and would destroy a LB coming over the top.

Just to clarify here.....and this happended in the Ala/OK. State bowl game yeterday. I learned something yesterday, so I pass on my new knowledge.

ANY PLAYER on the field can catch a LATERAL. The player DOES NOT have to report. The Ala. LT. lets the DL run past him, the LT drops back behind the line catches a LATERAL and walks into the end zone. The guy was 6'6'' and 342 lbs as an 18year old freshman. Rated the #1 Frosh lineman in college ball.

I would not use D'Brick. I would definitely use Adrian Jones since he was a TE in college. But I do not want to see this play anytime soon....way too riisy.

That was awesome. I still remember Keyshawn Johnson mouthing off about that while he was on another team. . . . . ."Vinny used to have somebody to throw that pass to. . . "

It wouldn't work because the other team would immediatley know something is up if DBrick reports eligible, they need a lineman that comes in as another blocking TE often, so when he does report eligible its not as surprising.
