    It was being reported around the league/new sites that Belicheck contract was up after the 2006 season and the Pats had not yet renewed it. This is what led to speculation that he could go to the Giants.

    I it definitely would matter. I am not sure that the Giants would want to give up on what would probably be a 1st or 2nd round draft choice if Belichick moved to the Giants.
