NC,the only comment I'll make, right or wrong depending on one's perspective, is the Ozzie comments. yes his teams were good but he was, IMHO, without a doubt a better talent evaluator then JD...

No shit. Old news is old. As long as they are around, winning will never be a priority.

I don't know if any of that is insider information, because it all seems like common sense if you have been watching this team. I really thought things would be different in 2021, but it has not turned out that way so far.

I have had similar concerns about Becton. I feel like he is the most overrated player on the team. Hopefully he steps up once he returns from injury.

Joe Douglas really is a mystery. I truly feel he just likes building through the draft. When you do that, it takes time to succeed. He signed a 6 year deal, so he felt he can use most of it I guess.

And as for fans, that is a big worry from me. I consider myself a pretty big and optimistic Jets fan, and even I am losing my joy for the team. It has been brutal lately. I am not ready to give up yet though.

Honestly, a lot of it is speculation. When the team is losing, that's what happens. One interesting point was about Conklin. It would surely be nice to get him, but does the author really know exactly what happened there? I recall Browns, Giants, and the Jets were interested and offers were similar, and Conklin chose Browns. Also that was before JD cleared up the CAP room, so Jets didn't have that much CAP. Indeed if JD chose Fant over Conklin because of price, it is a big mistake. I don't know if this is a fact though. Sound more like 3 teams went for him and he was the one who chose Browns.

    I liked the Article

Nothing working right now..does anyone see half way meaningful results on this Team 3 years in with JD? Now he chooses his own Coaches and they treat practice like gameday??

Whether he"s stingy generous or in between with $ I want JD showing me a turn around ...look at the Cards as a successful rebuild!! 1. 2. 3 they get it done ..even the Browns for christ sake

I am so luke warm on JD ..he earns my respect if at least dumps Saleh and LaFleur...will the GM be smart enough to get a better set of Coaches??? Plus this talent including Zach has to pan out

No clue how this ever get better honestly...we need luck

Or something Crazy like hiring Gruden ahah

Everyone is free to believe what they choose but this article is shit. And I'm not saying that because I believe one way or the other. This article is literally shit.

It first talks about free agency with Douglas. It continues to add that Douglas decided to go after Perriman over Anderson. It states that Douglas did not want to meet Anderson's price tag and then quietly mentions Anderson's slow start to the season. For the record, he has 18 catches for 204 yards and 2 TDs this year.

It then goes on to talk about Maye while then immediately changing the tune to talk about a backup veteran QB. The article throws blame at Douglas for not paying Hoyer and continues to add that Hoyer has lead to Mac Jones success in New England? Really? How so? I'd like to see the proof that Hoyer is directly connected to Jones success in New England?

Following this, it then goes on to say that the secondary is worse off than last year? Really? Our secondary has been one of the lone bright spots on this roster and has been widely talked about around the league on how good they look. Hell, we have some of the highest ranked corners right now.

The article than throws the slight mention of "finally hitting the mark with Carl Lawson" and then adds his injury as if Douglas knew that was going to occur.

The draft? It states that Douglas still needs time to fully evaluate his picks but then throws shade at his 2020 draft and proceeds to name 3 starters on the roster from it. 3 out of 9 picks are starters which is a 33% hit rate. The league average? Around 20-25% are starters long term in the league.

Spending money? It claims that Douglas spends money like it's his last dollar. Meanwhile we spent almost all of our cap in free agency. It then states that he's "afraid of signing big name free agents". Did they forget the Carl Lawson signing that they just mentioned prior?

It goes on and on. What a fuckin joke of an article. I won't even approach the bullshit subject of Saleh overworking the team in practice and then ending saying "well maybe this is just growing pains" LOL

We had plenty of cap space. We signed $40 million+ of free agents and walked into the year with more. I'll throw it back to when I said @BroadwayZach was overreacting for not signing Conklin and it's obvious we should've. Dudes probably the best run blocking right tackle in the game and we opted to go $4 million cheaper with Fant.

Sorry bud. You were right. Conklin should've been a Jet at all costs.

You've been hitting on how poor Anderson's been all year when he'd still be our #2 receiver with those trash stats and would've far and away the best receiver we had last year when he didn't have awful Darnold throwing him the ball.

Carl Lawson's injury was somewhat predictable. He has a huge rap sheet of injuries in his career dating back to his first two years in college. He also has not exactly been a great sack producing in his career whilst not being able to stay on the field. He came into the year with two torn ACLs and a cracked hip on the resume.

Drafting 3 starters is a poor characterization considering one of them is a punter whose hurt. That punter was 30th in average last year and 28th in net. Becton got abused last year in the passing game tied for 5th in sacks allowed and 7th in penalties while consistently being banged up. Perine, Clark and Mims struggle to get activated, Zuniga and Morgan got cut and Ashtyn Davis is just dreadful. The 2020 draft looks like a big ol' loss at this juncture.

Hall looks like a stud. The team gets their doors blown off in the first quarter every week. It's not a stretch to think there's something wrong with their practice habits.

That was a huge blow to me. Not only because Conklin is a great player but him choosing the Browns showed the rest of the NFL that we were still a joke and not to be considered.

I’d be interested to read next week’s article - “How to fix the problem”.

Well, some of the points raised are interesting, but no more than stuff raised and discussed on here. The article is badly written and who is this guy anyway? All these unnamed sources... I'm so sick of that. We know the Jets are crap at the moment. I see hope for improvement if certain things pan out. I see potential for disaster if they don't. There's nothing we can do but sit and watch.

Put it on the REQUIRED READING list. Unfortunately it was disappointing to not see anything that hasn't been discussed here for at least a month. I was hoping for at least one tidbit of promise.

Yea I’m somewhat skeptical about a lot of it, especially the practice thing, but I do think the LaFleur stuff at least confirms our own eyes. For the record the comparing the GMs comment was my own, not Pauline’s. I guess I should amend that by saying that we’ve mostly dumpster dived even when weve spent with the exception of Macc’s first year and the Lev signing.

It’s like someone took all of the grievances from TGG and made it into an article

This was my exact impression when I read it. This guy's "sources" are this forum.

That's exactly how I felt when I read it. But when it comes from a guy like Pauline who cut his teeth on a bulletproof publication like Walter Football, you really have to sit up and take notice.
