I don’t think Wilson is ever going to be a great pocket passer, but the only chance the Jets have to win these next two games is for Wilson to run around and take some chances down the field. These are the type of games where you tell him not worry about the stat line. I feel like the coaches trying to turn him into 2009 Mark Sanchez is not great for his development.
who’s he gonna throw to? Mims can’t get open. Cole hasn’t been able to neither. If there’s an opp to throw downfield, it just hasn’t been able to manifest itself….I’d like if they would throw some 50/50 balls to Mims, likely the only thing he can do right now.
This is absolutely not the time to open up the offense unless Moore and Crowder are playing. Just let him do what he’s been doing the last few weeks, it’s clearly helping him build confidence. Worry about the flashy shit once the basics are conquered.
By getting another top notch OL, and another top notch DE. Those teams win the games at the LOS, Jets need to continue to build the trenches. They are not beating those teams this year.
Certainly not by asking the QB to do things he’s not ready to do. Also who cares? A win is a bonus not a necessity.
This is literally the last thing this team should be doing. Zach has started to look like he's settling down out there. The stat line hasn't been flashy, but he hasn't been hurting the team and he has been generating some good drives, taking the easy completions and letting his skill position players get yards after the catch. This is building a foundation for his future. You are asking the Jets to throw a penthouse suite on top of those shaky foundations. He isn't ready. He would revert to the early season Zach and set himself back weeks if not months. Just no. And if you want to win, our best chance of winning is exactly how he's played the last few weeks.
Even with Moore and Crowder, these are not some world beaters. Moore has progressed nicely, but he is a rookie coming off multi week injury. Crowder is a nice #3/#4 type of player. Having both of them in definitely helps, but we don't quite have the guns for a shootout - particularly against some of the toughest defenses in NFL.
The main reason we cant even consider opening up the offense isn't QB or WRs. Its o-line. Our protection up front is way to shaky to try it. We have serious problems up front. Not just with finding five capable starters, which should be 5 good starters. We also need to have at least 4 capable backups. Our depth on the o-line is terrible and needs a lot of attention this offseason. If it doesn't improve we'll never develop a good QB.
We should not care about winning the last 2 games. It would feel great to beat up Brady but most important is Zack improving and becoming a competent NFL QB. Lately he looks like he is on his way. In the beginning of the season, the offense was opened up and it led to int after int. With his supporting cast out injured or with covid, and stone hands #11 who couldn't get open in a HS game, this is not the time to go (long) pass happy. 2 really bad outings the next 2 games will lead to an off season of speculation and talk of us drafting or signing a new starting QB which I would venture none of us want to read or hear. So hand the ball to Carter and Coleman, throw a little like we have been, and end the season maybe not on a high high note, but certainly not questioning Zack's viability.
I think Zach & Leflore are starting to know what works for both of them. Zach learning to take the easy throws & not play hero ball, & Leflore realizing that Zach needs to play more loose, use his legs, play some off script plays. I think they are starting to find a nice medium that works & what's best for the offense.
Blue & White Islander is one of the best/most proven trolling lures IMO.... mahi, sails, tuna... and put it behind a planer for wahoo. It's a proven producer
The only way to win is play ball control and keep the offenses off the field. It has nothing to do with Zach. "Opening up the offense" whatever that means is quickest way to defeat. Can we ban this guy again?
