She got access to real wealth. She came from money but her father's media empire broke down and then when he killed himself she was cut off from any real wealth. Not poor by any means but not the jet-setting socialite she used to be. Epstein gave her the wealth to re-enter the international stratosphere and in return she gave him access to the people her father had known. Eventually she gave him access to whatever he wanted and it must have been clear to her from early on in their relationship that he wasn't primarily interested in her. He had younger pursuits in life and she was getting older by the day. Thinking about it the conviction was totally justified. Ghislaine Maxwell was probably Jeffrey Epstein's primary enabler in all the things that he did that brought him down. She probably knows where the tapes are.
You have to separate office from man when you look at the things that went wrong in the Epstein prosecution(s). Epstein had a lot of connections to people and a lot of suasion going on in those connections. There were most likely significant points in both prosecutions where he was bailed out at least temporarily by his connections. However over time his connections lost strength as people died, retired, lost re-election and were removed from office quietly by the next wave of power brokers coming up. Those power brokers were not influenced by Epstein except via tenuous remaining threads of power from the previous generation. That's when he got snagged and everything broke down. If Ghislaine is smart she will start singing like a canary during the sentencing process - before she gets sentenced. If she's looking to bargain a few years down the road she may suddenly find that the info she has is irrelevant due to the players involved already being well-removed from the scene. My guess is she's not going to bargain now. She's going to wait for 2024 and hope Trump is re-elected. Then suddenly she will have a huge amount of power to plead for a pardon of some sort.
Trump wouldn't pardon her unless he felt he had too. Remember with him it's all about him and nobody else matters.
