We still need to address DT. I would love for Devonte Wyatt to fall to the top of round 2, one of my favorite players in this draft. Every time I watched Georgia's defense, he was making plays and hustling his ass off. 50/50 he makes out of rd 1.
Wyatt was the workhorse next to Davis and ate up blocks to allow penetration. He’s going to be good pro. I have no idea where to project him. I’ve seen everything from late first to early third.
Literally the first player here before JD, draft or otherwise, to receive an extension. I genuinely didn't think I'd see it. And he makes it Shepherd? Fatukasi was the guy to re-sign, but considering he gone and Rankins gonna be gone, they'd be left with no experienced 2 gappers. So it makes sense considering.
Fatukasi was often on the field when we got absolutely gashed last year. 10 million per? GTFOH And I liked and rooted for Fatukasi as well. Nuthn against him But... we rebuilding
That's a broad stroke statement, assuming we got run on so he must suck. Yes we had the worst defense in the league, but that doesn't mean remove the good parts and make it worse. Fatukasi has been balling for last couple years. That salary was fair, and he's only 27. Now we have yet another hole to fill. Not the way to rebuild.
I said he sucked? Please tell me where. I said he was on the field while we got gashed. "been balling" ? i thought he was solid his 1st 2 years. He didnt look good in this system. And maybe thats just it, bad system fit. shrug
Well your rationale for 'GTFOH' was that he was on the field when we got run on....insinuating he was part of the problem, ie not good. That's not a good argument imo. He had a good year even last year, with an awful DC, and limited supporting cast. Very solid player, which is why he went on Day 1. My argument is, if you want to rebuild, stop letting talented young players walk, causing more holes to fill.
2019 Gregg Williams first year with our defense, NY Jets were #1 against short yardage runs. We stopped 100% of 4th and short and 100% of 4th and goal. No one could run on us in those situations. That's all I remember about our D that year, can't even remember all the players. Anyhoo, How did we go from #1 to bottom of the barrel in 2 short seasons, and can Saleh/JD get that mojo back?
I've gotta disagree. 10M in FA is not far off the mark. Could have locked him up for less before hitting FA too. It was a poor decision to let him walk for nothing. We have to stop doing this. I like keeping Sheppard considering Fatukasi and Rankins departing, but we're gonna have to fill a lot of holes in order to get better stopping the run.
I'm still amazed that Mac drafted this guy with his first pick AFTER selecting his "franchise QB." ........and yet, here he is, getting that rare home team extension from Jets front office.
