Some of the posters on this board have discussed there disgust with the DT position and RB position. If you were to draft players to fill those needs you still have to cut players to make room. I doubt your team would put there draft picks on the PS. So whether you believe it or not the Jets will cut players to make room for new players that fit the scheme. Thats how the NFL works for HC that put in a new offensive and defensive scheme for the 1st time, it takes atleast 3 years to build the team you want IMO.

I couldn't believe King said that. Was he actually suggesting that Belichik believes in collusion to drive down player's prices? Good lord. If it's true then Belichik is going to pay a price down the road and if it's not then Peter King is a tool being used by Belichik.

I'm much more inclined to believe the second is the case.

Thanks for the education, BB06. I was under the impression that an NFL roster could have up to 492 players with a cap number equivalent to the GDP of Sweden.

Kimo von Oelhoffen is coming off of the roster due to contract expiration. No cap hit there. Barlow, Blaylock, or both are going to be cut, but their cap numbers are small. And despite all that, if you'd been around the board at any point in the last three weeks, I don't think you'd see "disgust" with Robertson or Washington. A need to improve, certainly.

Listen, I know it's scary that the Jets have alot of money and a lot of freedom to spend it, especially when the guy we were all counting on to go 5-11 blew up all the well-laid plans and took a 10-6 record. You're just going to have to realize, I'm afraid, that doom shant be falling on the Jets in the near term.

I really think D-rob will be Von Oelhoffen's replacement down the line and we will find a NT so he can move over. If w draft a NT I think we probably see some kind of rotation with the three next season. If we go free agency then maybe Oelhoffen is out of the picture.

Spencer, Riddles, Kassell, Ball, Barlow, Blaylock, and Diwhite hold little or no cap hit. Clements and Old Hoffen are UFA. That is 9 players that could be off the roster with no substantial cap hit. Finding roster spots without cap hits is not a problem. Do some research before you make a bold statement like that.

I think we should sit back and quietly try to sign good players that aren't probowlers...save money, and don't go all out. Re-sign Rhodes, and Cotch surely..maybe others... and then look for sleepers in the draft....

How can any Jet fan living in 2007 be a darksider? We seem to be SET for atleast 5 years.

Correct, in retrospect. Cutting him may still be cap-friendly, and he can contribute as either depth or at defensive end.

Is anyone else worried that if Pioli leaves for the Giants then the Pats might start resigning their talented free agents?

Madison's expensive, Webster's up-and-coming, and the NFC will get stomped by the AFC from now until the end of time. No chance.

I doubt it. Kraft will still own the team

Second that. Steinbachs a solid talent at one of this teams few legitimate positions of need. Sign this guy long term and draft a stud right tackle and weve got a great offensive line for the next five years.

We got to this position by being SMART with our money. We got to this position by making good choices based on football talent and economics. We keep up with this, and guess what? We're not a 2-3 yr flash.. we're a team who is always in it.

It's very much possible that Mike Tannenbaum could be the next Pioli, the next Savage.

I agree.. I think we're learning that even though Tannenbaum was in charge of the cap during Bradway's years, Bradway still overrode him to get him to make some deals... Tannenbaum straighted it out immediately when he came here (had the BIG advantage of knowing the situation, instead of coming into a new environment).

I don't think after years of getting the cap ruined he's going to go back to that... I don't think Mangini needs to 40+M player to win..

If anything, we need offensive gamebreakers and someone to stuff the run.

Well the first thing the Front Office should do is sign Cotchery to an extension. The guy has had a great season and needs to be a part of this team for a while.

Thats great news, lets lock up Cotch and Rhodes long term. Then we will work from there.
