I wouldn't be so sure. I remember Mike White calling himself a starter last year. Professional football players are the best of the best. With billions of people on the planet such a?small percentage make it onto an NFL roster. These guys all have huge egos. Unless you are backing up one of the top six QBs in the league odds are you think you can do better than the guy ahead of you on the depth chart.
ZW is near the bottom in terms of completion percentage, QBR, passer rating, etc. Obviously the coaching staff is never going to be critical of him publicly but the number of dropbacks they're giving him speaks volumes about how they perceive his ability at this point.
Again that may be true, but it's up to the GM and HC to let the player know he's coming in as a backup, and unless something drastic happens: the starter gets hurt or shits the bed over a number of games, he's not going to start. Douglas isn't going to sign a guy who isn't okay with that understanding.
Agree, The HC alluded to the fact (in a recent presser this week (NC comment) that they have been dealing with this for a while... so while its admirable to think about a second chances, like Christian Mc trade him now and get the most value you can.
Proof? They brought in a Super Bowl MVP and a member of the NFL Hall of Fame. If that isn’t proof, I don’t know what is. /s
You act their surprised or it’s unexpected. I promise MiLF and Salah have been fantasizing and talking for years about how they would develop a QB if they ever got the chance. All clues that strategy has been “slow and steady” form day 1. “We will lift you up, not the other way around”. Most of the ZW defenders admit we’re still in a wait and see phase but @ColoradoContrails made a great point; I trust their eyes over yours.
IMO it’s a question of cost vs value. If Moore was a nightmare like that kid on the Giants, you have to cut him he was toxic. If Moore was untalented and a little disruptive like that kid in NE, why not cut him… But I believe JD and the CS see him as a valued piece of their long term plans and to date the cost of distraction has been minimal and possibly temporary. I don’t believe they will move him on him unless they’re able to get comparable value (as seen by them). Back to trades: I’ll sell B. Hall for a 3rd and I’d bet someone is willing to pay it.
You might be right about how JD and Saleh view him, and if they think he's salvageable I'll bow to their knowledge and experience. But I've just seen players who pull this kind of prima donna shit never really get over it. That said, I wouldn't sell him cheap. If all they get are lowball offers I'd definitely hang onto him, keeping him inactive or on the bench until maybe he at least fakes a good attitude and improves his value.
IMO that's a HUGE leap. IMO yhere is nothing to suggest that is "who he is." He wasn't that way in college, it wasn't mentioned in the scouting reports about him, and he wasn't that way last year. In fact, and to the contrary every single thing that has been written about him as a person as well as as a football player is what high character he has and what an outstanding person he is. You may be proven right this coming week or weeks, but I don't think there's anything to suggest that is "who he is" at this moment. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't cost me or the team anything to do that. IMO immediately assuming that is who he is and wanting to immediately trade him, is a knee jerk reaction. I'm not surprised to see some here and on Twitter go there immediately, but I am totally surprised that you are. You almost always take the calm, patient, mature, wait and see approach. I'm truly surprised that you're going there so quickly. Is this just a gut feeling with you, or do you know something I don't about him? I don't think his trade value would be great right now, but let him come back, apologize to teammates, be a good teammate, work hard, keep quiet, then have the opportunity to put up some good numbers, and his trade value will rise. Then if JD and Saleh are sick of him they can trade him, but he deserves a 2nd chance, and I don't think they'd get more than a 4th round pick for him right now.
My gut feeling based on seeing this building for a couple of weeks. And several teammates have tried to talk to him but he ignored them and went public. Sure I could be wrong about him but I don't think so. As to being quick to judge him, I've seen too many Jets players pull this crap over the years and they never get better. If Moore can be redeemed, great, but I wouldn't count on it.
IMO Saleh said that's part of what they deal with every day. He didn't say that specifically about Moore, but dealing with players in general.
More than likely something else will pop up in the future with Moore, which would be another distraction. Best to cut bait with him now while his trade value is still high.
Sounds like a few Broncos may be on the block. If I’m JD, I’m getting a really good look at Jeudy and Hamler today. Could be a good way to solve this Elijah problem if it continues to escalate. Chubb is worth looking into as well. A young, productive EDGE is always worth looking into. His price may be too steep for us as we’re not flush with draft capital anymore.
If Broncos are selling right now it tells you that they already realize that the trade for Russell Wilson was a disaster.
I think Clemons could be our Chubb if he got more PT. I think we're flush with WR's and there's not enough balls to go around now with MLF's system. JD might want to stand pat this time around or see what we'll need for a run in '23/24.
