Well you should be. Think of it this way: Pennington starts for lets say 2 or 3 more years, in the meantime Clemens "marinates" and learns from chad...he'll be great and in my belief is our future quarterback

    or the next Browning Nagle.

Moral of the story? win now (which we didn't) while you have a legitimate shot (which we did).

Although I don't think this needed its own thread, he did say Chad should get 2 or 3 more years and he is right. If Chad succeeds in that time I believe he could stay longer. But the original poster was right that it is good to have Clemmens there learnin behind someone like Chad.

This is the way I see it...

Clemens studies the play book like studying for a final exam. It's his chance to win the starting job. I think with the tutoring of Pennington, this kid could be the future QB to surprise the NFL.

I think Chad would make a great teacher/QB coach. He has the smarts.

Clemens will and possibly be the starting QB next season.

what the hell are you guys serious... we had a hell of a season led by the Comeback Player of the Year and played well for 3 quarters of a playoff game against a current dynasty. "Are you guys excited for Kellen Clemens"

cmon guys this is a site for passionate jets fans.. next thing someone is gonna post a "Maybe Mangini isn't our guy" thread.

Clemens COULD be the FUTURE QB of this team. COULD and FUTURE are the key words.

Chad will be our QB for a few more years, unless the Staff or Woody Johnson want him out. When Chads time is done, I guess you can expect Clemens to come in. I'm curious how well he can do on the NFL Level.

I'll compare him, for now, to Phillip Hughes. I know I know, he's baseball and it is totally different. I'm just comparing the fact that they may be young studs and the future of their teams, but they aren't ready for the professional level just yet. (Phillip Hughes maybe this season, but that is a different story for a different thread).

I would have traded some of that heart for a little brains to know the rules about a blocked lateral pass. Seriously, how is an experienced NFL QB not aware of that rule and at least make an effort to recover that ball?

You hit it right on the head here. Most Clemmens supporters believe that he is going to come in and be good. The key would is "could". Clemmens "could" be a great starter but who knows.

actually, I'm a 31 year old Mets fan...and a Knicks fan...so if you think about that, you might have some idea of how sick I am of not winning a championship. It's always "wait til next year" with my teams or trying to find "some positives". That shit gets REAL OLD after a while man.

yea we were in so called rebuilding this yr and look what happened we r 28 mil under the cap...

I dont need to watch a winner play his butt off for us and do nothing but help us win then have to hear about a rookie who has never had a meaningful snap..

Beltran had a huge strikeout, but lets start milledge next yr cuz we drafted him high youre better than that

It's just like the Broncos pulling out Jake Plummer for Jay Cutler. It isn't about winning a few games, making the playoffs, what is the point? An early exit is about as good as losing in the big game. Seriously, it's about winning championships. It's all or nothing, and bottom line is, I just don't think Chad will win us the big one.

So... what's the point. That's my reasoning as to why a move to Clemens doesn't seem so crazy.

^ You can't judge how Clemens will do based on the Broncos taking out Plummer and putting in Cutler.

If you put him in, and he goes well, then you get lucky. If you put him in, and he sucks, then your wanted. That is why I think it safe to have Chad still be this teams QB, and have Clemens learn from him. Chad is a great leader and I am sure is teaching Clemens the right way.

i would rather go 5-11 with clemens instead of 8-8 with pennington once again at QB. get it over with already..
