I think @Jonathan_Vilma has put it neatly above. I see a lot of the positive comments about White, like Garrett "going to war" for Mike, as being equally dismissive of Zach. I don't remember any soundbites earlier in the season about Zach from outside the coaching staff. I think at this point, we've got Josh Rosen v2.0. Hopefully he gets his head down and tries to improve.
I don't see the evidence that leads to the conclusion he needs to be active. If he somehow got his footwork right, can read the field, step up when he throws, and knows the playbook then sure, he should be active. What makes you think this has been achieved?
3 snaps leads you to believe he's better than Flacco right now? I can't argue with you cause you don't base your opinion on data. Give Flacco a week to prepare then if he sucks, pull him at halftime. PS: I'm not arguing Flacco is a good option--just better than ZW
It will be interesting to see what they do with Wilson going forward. Mike White will start every game this year if healthy enough to do so. The fact that they have Flacco (who should have retired years ago) ahead of Wilson is troubling. My guess for next year is this. Flacco won't be on the team. Saleh will announce in TC and preseason that White and Wilson will battle it out to become the starter. If Wilson can't be out White for the starters job, then I could see 2023 being Wilson's last year with the Jets. JMHO.
Flacco's been going through the motions since LAST season.... JD bringing him back will one day be on a remake of "unsolved mysteries"
We're not that good. Contorting the narrative to make it seem otherwise is fool's gold. The whole if x y and z and....happened we could have won ...blah blah.....
It's meaningless horseshat, that has nothing to do with football, unless you think they wouldn't play hard with Zach at QB. The media likes controversy, & focusing on extraneous nonsense. How many stories about the players love for MW. Where are the stories about what actually happened yesterday? MW was beaten up. The OL 'allowed' it to happen. Does that mean the OL sucked? Bills players had clear, open lanes to MW. Where were the adjustments to protections by MLF? Or did the CS just keep throwing out MW, to get slaughtered? When MW got back into the game, were any adjustments made? No. But the media wants friendly access to Saleh & MLF, so they ignore how the CS did nothing to help protect their injured QB. THAT is the story. That's what happened yesterday, not what the media is focused on - - nonsense, innuendo, & gossip. As a fan, I don't give a crap about that stuff. And without focus on what went wrong, my team will not improve. Liking MW didn't help the team protect him, or win yesterday.
Yeah sure he would of but then did what? Throw the ball at someone’s feet or a pick. I don’t see why not give Strev a chance to play his legs are his best feature and his throwing can’t be half as bad as Wilson. Joe Flacco should just retire atp
I don’t know how some of you can’t say the media reports are BS, where many of the guys are wearing “Mike Effing White” shirts. Does that mean they don’t like ZW? No. If ZW comes in, I don’t think any player is not going to play hard for him. But ZW has to earn trust in his teammates and it is pretty convincing that it is an issue. If ZW plays whenever the situation, I hope he does well and I am sure he will win trust in his teammates. MW is clearly the best QB going forward until he gets hurt or plays miserably for consecutive games. Now whether ZW wi the better option over Flacco right now, that’s debatable. Sure Flacco shit the bed yesterday. He did have Conklin open on a nice play call but threw behind him. Hey, all QBs has trouble throwing some passes in the weather. Now it remains to be seen if MW can even play on Sunday. If not, we re deep shit with either QBs.
If the point was to truly re-set Zach, then yes sitting him was fine. I think a month is enough though and he should suit up this week. I'd go even further than just suiting up if White is not 100%.
I wouldn't go as far as to say "deep shit" with Wilson. White has played better in his 3 starts but it's not like Wilson was a complete train wreck. They did manage to win 5 games with him behind center and in those 5 wins his passer rating was 79 (which isn't great but it's not tragic). Wilson also has rushed for 94 yards and that could come in handy with the way the line has been playing. I've made my stance clear that White should start the rest of the games. But I seriously doubt that he doesn't end up injured again. He has zero escapability and seems to take massive hits. If White is out, I take my chances with Wilson over Flacco any day of the week.
I can't believe you're asking this? Due respect Brook you need to be smarter than this.... Zach was a f*cking train wreck in his last game. He couldn't hit the ocean, his footwork was atrocious, he could NOT go through progressions, he was stoic, emotionless, aloof, etc. He exhibited every adjective unbecoming of a QB and leader. He NEEDED to go inactive. He NEEDED a reset. If he'd played any time during the last 3 weeks it would a 1000 times worse for the team. Until he shows that he can take a snap correctly, step the proper amount of steps, line his body in line with where he intends to throw the ball. Literally ANYONE, including Joe Flacco, puts us in a better place than Zach. Zach is proving to be a little scumbag and he should absolutely be kept away from the team so he can't poison them. That may sound dramatic but if he came in the game right now the players would quit on the team.....
ZW would have gotten destroyed under the rush yesterday just like Flacco did. It would have looked different because he's mobile but likely the same end results. Next season the Jets really need to complete the OL without bringing in vets over 30. There's a reason those guys are readily available. The reason we got anything done yesterday is that White kept his eyes downfield even under heavy pressure. If he throws it away under pressure the offense would have been stalled all game. Instead he hung in and completed a few passes and took some heavy hits. That's the price of playing QB in the NFL with an unstable OL in December.
His coach is a bit better. My guess is Zach said something about MLF play design and play calling and was out in time out.
If you saw the game you'd see it was way beyond coaching. The guy moved around a collapsing pocket like a pro, over and over again, and made the right reads.
