Who thinks MW can get cleared for Thursday? Was it possible for him to get cleared for the lions if they kept trying? it sounds like it would have been a small chance but opted to get a game plan in for Zach. Also - Didn't Justin Herbert play with rib fractures?
With this being a short week, I think it's highly unlikely we see MW on Thursday. Best case scenario is MW comes back in @SEA next week.
I don't think he can get cleared. Maybe not for Seattle either. He takes some really hard hits because he stands in vs the rush.
Those ribs need to calcify. It takes weeks. It’s dangerous to allow him to play. We can’t beat the jags Seattle or Miami with Zach. The offense doesn’t click.
I think it's safe to say Mike white is done for the season with these ribs. It's also safe to say the postseason is not going to happen this year. Zach isn't ready I suspect the Jets sign White to a 3 year deal and we have a QB competition next summer. If Mike White can stay on the field, we have a shot at a deep run next year...Maybe this scenario plays out again next year and Zach takes advantage...
Looks like White won’t play… I don’t think we beat the Jaguars and White gets sidelined then until next season.
he needs to bulk up some if he wants to be a long term NFL starter. You can’t be 6’5” and 215 lbs. Needs 10 pounds in the off season.
Seems like he has spent a ton of time on the field and in the film room improving his game. He absolutely needs to put some time in the weight room this offseason.
If we lose to the Jags I think that eliminates us from the playoffs. Does the coaching staff play an injured Mike White in the last two games instead of giving Zach more reps? Keeping White on the bench potentially reduces the cost to resign him while getting a better look at Zach. As much as I want White on the field I wouldn't be surprised if Zach is our starter down the stretch this year.
Only way I can see him playing again (16-17) if if theyre somehow still in the playoff hunt with Zach playing poorly. It is what it is. I dont think adding muscle would do much to protect a direct shot to the ribs...
He's not going to play again this season. He served his purpose with the organization, which was to put a bit of fear into Wilson and to placate the locker room that saw that there was no accountability at the QB position. Now that that purpose has been served, he'll be going back to his backup role before bolting out of here in free agency in March. Like it or not, the last three games is about confirming what we all either know or suspect, that Wilson isn't an NFL quarterback. He might as well play so that the front office can have more information to go about their preparations for what the hell we're going to do at QB next season.
So much to unpack here ... If the Jets go 3-0, they WILL make the playoffs. If MW plays, they have a CHANCE (25% I'd guess) to do that. If ZW plays, there is no chance. ZERO. If the Jets sit MW for the rest of the season, despite not making the playoffs, there would be some pros: 1. MW will be cheaper to keep. (As his body of work and film grows, so does his contract this off-season, whether the Jets W or L. 2. We get to see ZW for 3 more games, and will have an even better idea (most likely) that he is not an NFL QB yet. My best hope: MW guts it out, gets cleared and the Jets finish 3-0 and fulfill Salehs prophecy of seeing the Bills again this year in the divisional round or AfC championship. My best guess: ZW starts Thursday. If they grind out a tough win in the wintry mix elements, MW is in play for Seattle. If ZW starts and the Jets lose on Thursday, the Jets will ground (the right decision) MW for the season to A. Keep him healthy going into off-season, B. Keep his re-sign cost down, and C. Get a look at ZW for 2 more full games. UNLESS Jets lose and NE, MIA, and SD all lose as well Then Jets would still actually have a shot, and MW would again, be in play for Seattle. There's the crystal ball of scenarios I think it's pretty accurate.
