With everybody talking about who the Jets could sign with all this available cap space, I think its worth remembering that we do, maybe, have a real good nose tackle on the roster already. Sione Pouha was supposedly playing phenomenally well prior to getting injured in camp. Hell be back next year to take another crack at winning a starting job. Not to say it wouldnt be a good idea to bring in another big man, but in my mind, Pouha's return is a big plus for this team.

I know he got hurt this year but if you hadn't just mentioned him I'd never have thought of him again... I doubt we'll see him in a Jet uniform

He is in trouble of making the team let alone being the starting NT. Not only is he 27 or 28, but he has limited experience and is coming off of a season ending knee injury...

    Outlook: Not very good

I'd love it if Pouha somehow developed into a legit NT

I seriously doubt its going to happen. He's an old, inexperienced player.

He is old considering the lack of experience...27 would be young if he had come out of college at 22

I would think the exact opposite. Pouha's 27 is a younger 27 because he hasn't played as much and there's less wear and tear...

Yeah, but which would you rather have?

A 27 year old DT who has only played backup one season who had a season ending knee injury...

Or a 27 year old with 4-5 years experience who is potentially in his prime?

Exactly- at 27, you should have a strong grasp of the game and in your prime. Pouha has the same grasp of NFL football as a 22 year old rookie at this point- sure, he may be in better shape because of less wear and tear but he's already suffered one season ending injury.

I didn't like the pick originally when it was made and still don't. Too much of a project for a 3rd round pick.

27 is when a player is usually in his prime, an experienced player that is. safe to say that he was a bust.

Definitely not yet. His lack of wear gives him more time to prove himself.

Best case is he stays healthy, has a good camp and provides depth at the position.

I agree. He is good for depth, but unfortunately, he is too aged (not old, but aged) to start developing now.

Who knows though? He could come into camp prepared and ready to play, but a NT, who is already older, lacks NFL experience, and coming off a season-ending knee injury, is probably doomed to being a role-player at best.

Our best bet is to pursue a NT for the future. If Pouha pans out, it's a bonus, but it should not be relied on.

i dunno, I played OT, DT, and NT. a bad knee will do serious serious damage especially at NT. i know he got in way better shape last offseason, but even then. and with his lack of experience even by the time he comes into his own his knee will make it so he can only be used sparingly.

now sure he can come back and prove me wrong, but if they feel they need someone besides Robertson, they should address it and not count on someone his size rehabbing a knee and with the limited experience he has.

best of luck to him but im probably just pesimistic cause I blew mine out and it cost me alot either way thats my 2 cents.

and Tui Aleilefaleula. I wish we had a better sense of what they can give us. I bet the CS wishes that, too. I don't think we can go into next season hoping that either one will pan out, I think we've got to make a move for a real, honest to goodness NT first and foremost.

Man, I know Bradway made some good decisions while in control, but drafting Pouha in the 3rd was not one of them
