We only beat 1 team with a winning record so if we went 5-11 next season with a tough schedule does that mean Eric was a 1 year fluke and benefited from the weak schedule?
typical Jet fan, already expecting the worst. don't see this happening.......the team will address the many talent gaps we have and will have an other run at the playoffs next year. (D Line, running Back, Secondary etc) But again, a lot will depend on the QB situation....hopefully Chad will make it through another season
I see your user name and I just get turned off by all your posts, im surprised i even read this one, i usually just skip by because i know its going to be pessimistic and anti-jets. How are you #1 jets fan? the jets will not suck next season...and if they do...oh well, if you're a true die hard fan you'll still appreciate the season (but they will not suck).
Let's see...I live in VA and I'm a season tix holder and I go to just about everyone of the Jets home game. If that doesn't say I a BIG time Jets fan then who is?
You are one pathetic person. I can see the Jets possibly regressing due to the schedule, but I doubt it. But man does your schtick ever get old to even yourself?
How many times have we had high hopes going into a season and it turned out bad? I know 2 damn many to count. Show me where I said we will suck...I said "IF"
The point is there is no reason to talk about "what if" the Jets suck next season. While the Jets season is over, the NFL season isn't over yet.
It's JANUARY 9th! You need to take a pill or 2. Here's an idea: http://www.mental-health-matters.com/
I 'm a football fan but when the Jets are no longer playing the season just doesn't feel right to me.
Yeah, and I am the king of a small island country. Anyone can say anything on a public message board. It doesn't mean anything.
If we suck next season there will be a ton of negative posts in the NYJ forum. Oh, wait a minute.....
The possibility of overachieving in the early years of a new coach -- Walt Michaels in 1978, Bill Parcells in 2003 -- is always a possibility. But I feel good for the Jets in 2007. Here's why: (1) Schedule -- our schedule next year is tougher, but not a killer. One of the reasons our schedule was 'easy' this year is the fact that some teams got winning records by fattening up on lousy teams (e.g., NFC Central) and when other teams played THOSE teams, it counted as a win against a 'quality' opponent. Beating up on bad teams doesn't mean you are good per se. Next year we don't play great teams alot, but more middle-of-the-pack teams. (2) AFC East -- with 6 games here, this is key. I think the Pats will NOT be as good next year, but still very good overall. But I think Buffalo and Miami will take steps backward. Buffalo has alot of FA's and not much cap space and Miami is in chaos. (3) Cap Space -- Jets are $28 MM under the cap space. Don't blow it on Samuels, he had 6 interception in 3 previous years. 2006 looks like a salary drive by him, like Larry Walker in the 1996 Super Bowl against Neil O'Donnel. (4) Mangini -- he'll have the Jets prepared to play every week. This means the Jets won't lose 3-4 games because they weren't showing up. If you show up 14 or 15 or 16 times, you have a better chance to play up to your potential. (5) Career Years -- who had a career year in 2006 for the Jets? See my point ? We played up to our potential by playing hard (see #4 above) but I bet that next year we can get better years out of 1-2 Defensive guys and maybe 2-3 Offensive guys. (6) Chad -- it takes 18 months to FULLY recover from the surgery he had. You get to about 90% in 6 months, and 95% in 12 months. I think Chad can have a better year next year with a QB rating closer to 90 which might add 1-2 more wins. (7) Running Back -- we got killed by the Curtis Martin situation. Next year, we'll be much better positioned either by FA or the draft. (8) Draft -- we get that Redskins #2 round pick plus our own. Should get plenty of good talent and I would not be surprised, given the cap space, if Tannenbaum trades a few picks to get us up into the Top 10, maybe even Top 5. (9) Wide Receivers -- you can't underestimate the importance of route-running coordination with your QB. It is the difference between big yardage and interceptions (please note that Marvin Harrison ran 2 bad routes on Saturday and each time it led to an easy Ty Law interception. It was not stupidity on Peyton's part, it was bad routes by a veteran and made it seem like the Colts and Peyton didn't know what they were doing. Just goes to show you how important route-running is.). I think that Coles can have as good a year next year, Cotchery will have an even better year, and McCareins will have a much better year. I can see Justin coming back as a strong #3 receiver and catching close to 40-50 passes in 2007. (10) Tight End -- I think Chris Baker either breaks out here and has an impact on 10-12 games next year (instead of 2-3) or they finally get someone good in the draft or FA. This black hole since Mickey Shuler may finally turn out to be a plus for the team. (11) Kicking -- Nugent looks great on kickoffs and I think he'll work on technique and leg strength to get his kickoffs closer to the goalline. 10 more yards will make a big difference in field position. (12) Jets Fans -- GangGreen.com and all the other Jets fans will be a key 12th Man.
Why do you continue to make these types of posts day after day? You seem pretty hasty to think we'll be going 5-11 next season also. As I recall everyone said we were supposed to go 5-11 this season. I guess we don't get an off season this time around to imrprove our fast growing team.
Why wait. Hell, it's been a few days since our 10-6 Playoff season ended. That's time enough. It's now bashing season.
