As a sanity check with all of the concerns about what Coles is saying, let's also look at some of the other player quotes from todays newspapers. Just to balance things out a bit around here.... "He did a good job all year," safety Kerry Rhodes said. "He demanded what he wanted and got it done early. He pretty much imposed his will." "I've played a lot of football -- I started at age 6," wideout Jerricho Cotchery said. "This is the closest team I've played on, and that's a tribute to Coach Mangini. We fought for each other the entire year." And Curtis Martin, on the verge of announcing his retirement, said the Jets got the best coach available. "If I owned a team," he said, "Eric would be my head coach." "One of the best coaching jobs I've ever seen," said Curtis Martin, who spent the season on the sideline, taking notes. "The biggest thing with this team is that we were a team," he said. "You can't say that with most teams around the league. There are people inside the locker room that disrupt the team, and we didn't do that" (Kerry Rhodes) "You talk about a coach making a difference in a team?" Martin said. "Eric made a huge difference in this team. I learned more from him this year than I had in all my previous 11 years combined, and I didn't even play."
Thank you baamf. People are getting way too upset over comments made after a disappointing loss. Let's give those players a breather before we have them on the chopping block. JMO
Look at Jason Taylor...he was very frusturated (and is a total crybaby) with how the season went and he made some statements to the media that he was thinking about retiring. Then after he came to his senses, he said he would be back next year. Coled will do the same after a litlle R&R.
Wow, Curtis's statements are golden. I hope he comes back as a coach here. He's one of my favorite athletes without a doubt.
Cotchery's statements are the biggest tribute to coach Mangini. A rookie manages to put together a close knit team. I can easily see Eric coaching here for a long term, ala Bill Cowher. For once, it looks like we might have chosen the right guy. What a relief.

"The biggest thing with this team is that we were a team," he said. "You can't say that with most teams around the league. There are people inside the locker room that disrupt the team, and we didn't do that" Please stop.
I really don't think Coles will request a trade or anything like that. I just think he was pissed off that they lost to the Pats. He was saying that all that work was for nothing in a coles type of way.
UGH...i miss Curtis. it would be awesome one day if his, and chrebets jerseys were hung up one day.... Curtis Martin might be the classiest guy in the NFL.
