Being that I am usually in bed my 8pm, the night games suck big time and it’s hard to unwind that quickly after a 4pm game, so by default it is 1pm by country mile.
For awhile I was working 6 days a week and enjoy my "sunday fundays" ..... 4pm games mean I can do whatever outside all day (surf, fish, whatever....) or choose to watch the other games at 1. Then Crack a beer at 4pm kickoff with a smile (until the JETS turn that smile into frowns of disgust)
Going with 1:00 p.m. just from knee-jerk former ticket-holding status (55 years, count 'em) Much better cutting out in the beginning of the 4th Q if the writing was on the wall and I had things at home I'd rather be addressing when I had to go to work the next day . . . OR MAYBE I'D MUCH RATHER BE IN THE WOODS ON A BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY INSTEAD OF TORTURING MYSELF TO THE BITTER END. YES, I'M YELLING. 4:00 p.m. games were always a little tough, so in that case, we'd cut out in the middle of the 3rd Q if the writing was on the wall. My Daddy would make us sit to 00:00 in the worst shit weather during dogshit losing seasons. I refused doing that MOST Sundays after earning my dogshit stripes years before. Night games were always a toss up. For some weird reason unknown to man, we didn't leave during The Monday Night Miracle when there was zero clue there would be a miracle, let alone fat Jumbo Elliot being declared an Eligible Receiver and doing the unthinkable: he caught the ball.
I only like it if I have off from work next day. Just like Jaguars game last season. Weather was shitty and we played terrible though.
1pm Sunday. Get the rest of Sunday to celebrate if you win or get to drown your sorrows for a few hours after a loss.
Its always been Monday night so they dont ruin my weekend, but boy are things different this year! GO JETS!
Hey mate, I am currently in the UK (Milton Keynes) for business - my hotel doesn't have Sky Sports, go figure.... Are there any streaming services out there that I can get on the iPad.
Oddly, as a fellow UK fan, I prefer the 4.25pm kick off. 9.25pm UK time on a Sunday. This is so I can come back from the bar I use to watch Premier League (Soccer) and get home in plenty of time for the Jets game. Otherwise I miss the end of one thing or the start of another. When we travel to New York for games though, it is always 1pm. Then we can get back to Queens by half time of the 4pm games, watch the end of those over a few beers and then the late one. I've never missed a prime time Jets game from the UK even though they are overnight. Won't start work until 11am earliest tomorrow!!
No. I work in IT for the local authority and we have flexi-time so people manage their own schedule. Since Covid we work from home 3 or 4 days each week so I won't be missed.
Thanks my friend. Never missing a prime time game is very impressive regardless of work status. Now I met 2 of our UK posters. Met @donkey in London and we watched a game together at Hippo Casino. I also met @JetsUK and his son at Metlife as we tailgated together. Please ping me if you come over to USA again soon so we as well can meet up.
You bet I will. You have been very kind to us International fans and it really enhances my experience as a Jet fan to exchange with real fans on here. My most notable, if not necessarily fondest memory of staying up all night for The Jets was in October 2000 vs Miami. It was covered by a budget terrestrial channel here in the UK that had the Monday night games, so there was just the game feed and that's it. For reasons I forget the game took ages to play out and at 6am UK time, they stopped showing the game and cut to the morning news. This was probably during overtime after the 4th quarter comeback, which has since become known as The Monday Night Miracle. The game eventually finished with an historic Jets win, but I didn't find out until mid morning. I wrote a really shitty email of complaint and they phoned me to apologise Life as a Jets fan huh?
