Saleh's just not the guy. He's playing checkers when football is violent chess.

Mccarthy dictated matchups and Saleh did nothing to stop Ceedee Lamb. Even when we have the game's best CB. His response in this video - our defense is the defense.

And he's admitted that he will not let his defense audible, making us vulnerable to QBs who read our defense.

He clearly doesn't understand offense. Looks like he doesn't get defense either. Without perfect talent for his systems, he's nothing but a system and crappy motivational speaker who reads from his notes.

Dear Robert Saleh, please prove me wrong. Belichek is coming and will do exactly what he did last year. He will attack the slot. He will attack our LBs and S with his backs and TEs with quick hitters. Negating our strengths. Please show you can adapt!

losing MC in the slot hurt. He’s been really good there. So putting Echols in slot in essentially his first game isn’t ideal. And it seems Reed and Sauce have primarily stayed on the outside. It’s how this defense works for zone purposes. Maybe down the line they will adjust but this is a corner group who played amazing all of last year without having anyone follow a WR. Reed played some slot before so maybe he will begin to move into some slot play.

We're ok letting OCs dictate matchups?

Geezus, the head coach of a six billion dollar NFL franchise and that’s his office?!! Can’t somebody make an IKEA run and pick him up a snördlakken or something?

I have noticed that even when we blitz, which is a rarity, we really only play two variations of coverage which is a base cover 3 or cover 4 shell. It’s likely why there has been such a push to invest in so many defensive linemen because there’s no deception and most QBs can pick apart a zone if they have time.

I think Ulbrich and Saleh need to go back to the drawing board and learn to shuffle their coverages a bit. There is no alternate game plan if the base defense is getting shredded.

One advantage I see is that it looks like it can be broken down and moved out quickly in case this whole Zach Wilson/Hackett thing doesn't really work out.

Saleh said it plainly years ago. I don’t know how many times I have to remind us. A monkey can run this defense. Those were his own words. Our D is predicated on overpowering offenses with aggressive, great players that force the QB to make early and poor decisions. If we don’t overmatch them at the line it gets torn apart painfully as we’ve seen.

Seems like both sides are thinking the same. Aside from the mouse pad, not a lot of Jets knickknacks cluttering up that broom closet.

Yeah as others have said this defense DOES NOT adjust. It either works as is or it doesn't.

Remember that game against the Bills where diggs was 1 on 1 with a CB who just entered the game and had a TD called back first play? Bills literally just ran the same play again on the very next play and threw to Diggs again for the TD. Everyone saw it coming. The Bills knew exactly what was happening. Afterwards Saleh was asked about it and said they can't adjust for things like that. That's when I knew don't ever expect this defense to adjust.
It's a testament how good it is that we don't get blown out every game bc everyone knows what to expect.

Watch this video on the Gus Bradley defense not working in todays NFL. This is what Saleh and Ulbrich run.

Agree. It's a testament to the talent that JD has accumulated and the inclusive process he runs.

Rex might make this talent into the 85 Bears.

    Let's not forget...
Our defensive scheme of giving the other team long offensive drives keeps our inept offense off the field.

That's some 3-D chess shit right there!

Reed has been our best CB so far this season. I'd rather he stay on the outside.

Checkers may be giving Saleh too much credit. Tiddly winks or Candy Land may be more like it.

Didn't he end up suing the contractor who renovated the house when he came here?
