Graham, a former Geelong footballer who has found fame and fortune playing for the New York Jets, arrived home to Melbourne with his family last Friday after losing in the playoffs. He was at the Australian Open yesterday. "It's unbelievable," Graham said of making the playoffs. "It is like any final series and the hype just builds up and up. "The build-up to every NFL game is like an AFL final, but the playoffs are just another step up. "It's like a Grand Final." Graham will be home in Australia for at least six weeks, and his children will have home schooling because the US school year is already under way. Life in the famous football club in the US can be hard because he was so far from home, Graham said. However the positives far outweigh the negatives, he said.
Just shows how much emotion these players put into every game. A regular season game is like the AFL final.
Ben was on the radio too. Said the Sesame St spot was fun to do..goes for 3 mins..took all day to do.
He's a member of the team isn't he. I'm sure he's qualified to remark about the feeling before each game.
lets be honest though....the AFL final is probably like a state championship game for high school football in texas....i mean, it was the div round of the playoffs....wait till next year when we go to the SB....hes gonna shit!
the AFL grand final is massive for the whole week the city of melbourne is buzzing, training sessions during the week are absolutely packed (when my team made the final in 02 and 03 there was 25-30k at training and there were people that couldnt get in), the teams fly into town on the thursday, parade through a packed city centre on friday before the whole nation sits down to watch the game
