I think his addiction was in teens, early 20s. But yeah, media is basically creating his profile (and guilt). Finding a jury for this one should be quite a task, although the evidence is pretty overwhelming .

I still find the surviving roommates actions strange ..not to the point of involvement or anything. But scared enough to not go check on 4 friends for 8 hours, but not scared enough to run out the front door at some point or call the cops…even Howard Blume wasn’t able to come up with an explanation.

Seems like a Hail Mary to me… but the Kohberger defense is running with the alternate suspect thing. So far what they have presented hasn’t been acceptable to the judge. Another hearing set for may 23.
Strange to me that if there was something like this, he would t have presented it right away instead of sitting on it in jail for 3 years.

I wish the guy would just take a guilty plea and save the families the gruesome details of a trial. They’d probably take the death penalty off the table anyway if he just pled guilty

Seems like he’s dying on that hill….

It appears that the majority of the new info revealed on dateline, is from a leak. That has pissed off the judge, the the point of maybe appointing a special prosecutor.

Could lead to a mistrial .

This guy doesn’t show the emotion of someone rotting in jail for 3 years for something he didn’t do. He wasn’t the least bit Surprised he was arrested. Almost seems like he played a game that he may know some ins and outs.

The prosecutors have to be very careful about this. If the courts see the State using the death penalty as leverage in plea negotiations, it reinforces defense arguments that the death penalty is arbitrarily applied. That's the kind of thing that might lead to a state court declaring the death-penalty statute unconstitutional.

Thinking about the alt suspect thing….. in a way, he’s officially linking himself to the crime.

Yo, did you all hear about those two Democratic state senators in Minnesota getting shot.
The guy had a manifesto. Seems entirely politically motivated.

Over a month long trial for Karen Read. That’s terrible, I feel bad for those jurors

It's surprising they didn't get a verdict in the two hours they had Friday afternoon with solid scientific evidence and expert testimony this time around.

The big question is will the real killer(s) get investigated at all in that incestuous world of Beantown cops?

If she’s found not guilty, I think there is a good chance that happens. I hope it does

I think she’s guilty, but I expect another hung jury

    I don't see how she's found guilty.

    1. When her car was seized the taillight was cracked with a piece about the size of a dollar bill dislodged but present according to an officer from a different department who oversaw the removal of the vehicle. After being taken to the police department (including about an hour when the surveillance camera in the area was inoperative) the much larger light was smashed completely out.

    2. Days after the incident pieces of the taillight were "found" at the scene by the police chief who happened to be driving past even though they were not seen there in the investigations in the first 24 hours.

    3. Video taken in Read's driveway hours after the time of death show the vehicle backing into a parked vehicle making contact with that taillight but most of the red lens is in place.

    4. The woman medical examiner and another witness identified marks on the victim's arm as dog bites, not the result of being hit by a car. Same with multiple wounds to the head area while there were no injuries to the lower body as would be expected from being hit by a car.

This guy got beat up by at least one person and mauled by a dog at the same time then was abandoned outside in a blizzard.

Yep, one of those freaky wannabe cops with a goofy history of overstating his accomplishments and employment status; married but renting a room in a little cottage from a guy who works in a chain pizza place. He was also a sometimes evangelist and fierce anti-choice advocate. Expect him to put a bullet in his own head when the cops close in on him if he hasn't already done so rather than face the charges.

it was not the medical examiner that testified to the dog bites, it was a (flimsy) expert that the defense paid to testify to that

They aren’t dog bites, that’s bullshit. Use your own eyes

The thing that got me about Karen Read was her running around all morning saying he got hit by a plow. Why would she say that if she simply dropped him off and left?

shes smoking hot but totally guilty, I think it was likely a drunken accident, but still

also, what kind of detective kills a dude (for seemingly no reason) and then dumps him off in his own driveway? There were train tracks behind the house, they coulda dumped him there

That theory that they killed him is so laughable to me, they could be crooked but they aren’t stupid
