Too damn jumpy at the plate for Volpe. What a shame to swing at that first pitch and he knew it.

I like Wells & Volpe and am obviously willing to give them more time given their age, but I think what we’re seeing is what we’re getting with them. After another couple seasons they are probably upgradable position players.

I realize over the course of 162 games there will be peaks and valleys. I honestly can't remember the last time the Yankees bats went this cold. 5 game losing streak overall with 3 straight shutout losses. 29 scoreless innings and counting. Hopefully they can snap out of this slump soon.

Stanton was fucking raking last night. Of course he’s not in the lineup tonight. Aaron Boone is a goddamn genius.

Sometimes I think it’s even harder to root for the Yankees than the Jets given all the stupid, self inflicted wounds they lay on themselves.

I want to say last year they had a similar drought, but it was shutout 2 games. They did the whole closed door meeting crap too.

At this point I'm done with Volpe and I still have no confidence in Dominguez. Half the lineup is under .230. Same shit different year

It’s too bad Volpe can’t be benched no matter how bad he sucks

The trade deadline market looks like it’s going to be flooded with started pitching and not a ton of bats.

From what I’ve seen the four names below are the best that might be on the market. However, teams stay in longer with the extended playoffs so it’s harder to find teams selling.

    3B Eugenio Suarez, Diamondbacks
    3B Nolan Arenado, Cardinals
    3B Ryan McMahon, Rockies
    OF Austin Hayes, Reds

I’d think the Yanks need a bat more than starting pitcher and as always another reliever.

The best players in the game don’t light up the minors in rehab starts but Stroman’s 6.97 ERA in double-A doesn’t exactly make me feel good.

He’s a total misfit toy that would be dfa’d based on his production by any competent gm.

The yanks have a major Volpe problem.

Not because he's a AAA player, it's that Cashman is going to roll him out for 3 more seasons then talk about him many years from now as if he was a good player he drafted.

Looks like it was all a mirage. I guess when your ace is pitching to a 1.29 ERA and your top position player is hitting .400 with a home run every third game for two months it masks a lot of roster deficiencies.

I’m not sure how much longer you roll Peraza out there anywhere on the field. He adds virtually nothing to the team.

Ben Rice should never catch at the major league level again.

DJ is pretty much shot and should be a DFA after a deadline acquisition.

Move Jazz to fucking second where he’s a natural fielder instead of third where he’s struggling.

None of those are difficult decisions. I don’t know what the fuck the analytics department failed to learn after inexplicably moving Gleyber to shortstop and destroying his bat in the process but these are human beings who bring their fielding struggles to the plate. And poor fielding is bad for a ball club.

Oh and Volpe looks like he’s going to be a journeyman utility guy.

I wouldn't be totally shocked if Boone gets fired if the skid continues into the middle of the month (or sooner), but that's just a pound of flesh move.

Cashman has not made a coherent roster in about 10 years, it's insane. Ever since they had a lineup of all righties the roster has always seemed to have multiple glaring holes that don't get fixed until other holes open up... or he sticks with his guys to the bitter end as if he is stat padding.

    Think of this:

They don't have a third baseman.

They don't have a reliable backup catcher.

They don't have enough infield depth that somehow the Oswaldo injury was killer.

They only came into the season with 6 starters. Most teams use 8-10 in a year. Warren sucks and he's the only guy they had as backup forcing Yarborough to start. He's hurt too.

They have one good bullpen arm. If williams fixes himself, they have 2. There was never enough and the rest are b-a-d.

The team is not constructed well, from the starters to its depth. That's the GMs fault, but he has a lifetime contract.

Jazz is openly complaining about the way he's being used. I read somewhere someone thinking this is the first sign of Boone losing the locker room, and that should be the kill shot for him, because he doesn't do anything else well as a manager.

George Steinbrenner would be executing people in the parking lot today.
