And so it begins. The tin foil man is hurt again, significant arm injury, and will require surgery. I love the Jets.
Is this real or not? Per Dianna Russini https://x.com/DMRussini/status/1963232629718663517?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet I wasn't a fan of re-signing him even before this. No way now.
Someone please merge my thread with this one. Its per Dianna Russini apparently. https://x.com/DMRussini/status/1963232629718663517?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet Please NYJ, --- do not re-sign this man.
Unreal. That should put any extension discussions to bed, which sucks for the future. Short term it doesn’t change much in terms of the outcome of the season but it certainly doesn’t help an offense that was going to be bottom 5 with him healthy.
All the talent in the world but body won’t cooperate. Unfortunately coaches don’t like having guys around they can’t count on to be on the field.
Wow…what a shitty blow I can’t find any details on what happened…was it in practice? What kind of injury? I only see that he’s getting a second opinion and may need surgery Dude has been way unlucky with the injury bug for sure
Tippman can play guard, correct? And Simpson is also hurt? I had high hopes for this Oline group.....WTF was I smoking?
Honestly I kind of expected this. I mentioned wanting to sign Drew Dalman this offseason and move Tippman to be our first backup at OG and C. I know Tipp’s PFF grade is good but I just don’t see it. Our OL blocking schemes and presnap recognition has been poor and I suspect some of that fell on Tippman not recognizing defenses properly (neither did our QB’s but that’s another story). I also feel like his snaps have been suspect at times. Myers definitely helps though and I’d probably move him to C now and move Tippman over.
If there’s a bright side the Jets do have an option to slide Tippman over. Also, looking ahead this probably means AVT is not re-signed. Some of that saved money can help keeping players like JJ. A decent guard can always been found in the middle rounds…. This injury hurts but it’s not exactly season changing and quite frankly being AVT it’s not exactly a surprise.
The greatest ability is availability and unfortunately AVT hasn't had it. Bad luck for him and the team. This makes the decision about his future easier but less palatable.
Reservations means you’d still consider it. AVT is done here. I wouldn’t sign him for a penny, though I think Woody should give him a parting bonus check since some of his injury came from the absolute stupidity and desperation of the previous GM and HC regime.
Whatever. Same shit new year. Find someone else and plug it up. If our season was riding on a guy who is more likely than not to get injured…:
This does hurt our season. With a run-based offense, our team can only go as far as the O-Line can push it. Our O-Line needs to be big, nasty, and HEALHY. All. Season. Long. Yikes.
