He needs to get smarter with the ball, and fast, or he’s going to get eaten alive in conference play. It’s only half-time and he has four INTs in two games. I only saw one of them. Plenty of time, beautiful throw - two feet over the WR’s head.
I don’t know if Mateer is an NFL starting QB, but he’s the kind of guy who makes me believe he can make a play when a play needs to be made. First series he did just that. Since then, the OK offense and special teams have done everything they can to keep Michigan in this game.
I’m souring on Mateer. He throws the ball like he’s looking at a shooting video game and as soon as he can see some movement he fires regardless of what’s there. I’ll wait for more games to give my official judgement although I saw the same shit at Wazzou.

I’d guess he stays another year at Oregon but it’ll be interesting to see if he ends up on first round boards. Sawyer Robertson at Baylor is going to get some looks too. He’s already putting on gaudy numbers and if they win games he could be a Heisman guy with how many yards he’s going to throw for.
I’m in on CJ Bailey although he’s only a sophomore. Not sure that he will stay at NC State after this season but he will be a BIG time prospect. Big, tall, strong kid who can run and has a cannon for an arm.

Even crazier - based solely on performance to date, if Nico does decide to come out this year, I’d put money on Joey Aguilar getting picked higher.
To be fair and transparent to Nico, New Mexico is a lot better than they usually are since they basically recruited a FCS all star team after the coach came from Idaho. Still- you can’t get smoked by NM at home on Friday night like that. I wonder if he’s glad he (secured a bigger bag) gets to play in front of friends and family now? He might not even get a P4 offer in the transfer portal. He’ll probably end up somewhere like Fresno State.
