They can cut him after this season or restructure. That deal didn’t preclude the Jets from drafting a QB regardless of the money IMO.

Time will tell. I'll come back to eat crow if we are not drafting a Qb next year.

We are definitely drafting a QB next year I don’t think there’s any crow to eat. My point was that the single year dollar investment they made in Fields didn’t preclude them from taking a QB this past year.

I don’t think they wanted to thrust a rookie QB into this roster without trying to establish a culture with a first year head coach first. I also think next year could be a pretty good QB class so I’m not upset we didn’t take one this past year.

who are we drafting and who is a better prospect than Dart? I don't see it honestly for various reasons.

I don't think Hurts is a great QB. Eagles won another SB with Foles.

The Eagles have been one of the top organization in all of sports since the turn of the century. They haven't had a Brady or a Manning at QB.

The Eagles know what they're doing.

You're shitting me, right? Dart? Get real. If Dart were the end all be all he'd be on the field. They don't sit rookie QB's if they are all that and a sack o' chips. You might want to climb off the Dart bandwagon until the kid actually wins a few NFL games. Seems to me they were saying the same shit about J.J. McCarthy and, 8 qtrs. of football in, the kid has played 7 shitty quarters. Hell, Penix and the mid-ling Falcons handed that kid his lunch and he's got a SUPERIOR supporting case outside of RB. Who here wants to bet they wish they had Darnold back by mid-season? I'll take that bet.

No one will confuse Dart with a Manning, Mahomes or a Luck. Not, at the very least, until a few years down the road and, right now, that's way too far for my crystal ball to work.

I think we've just identified your biggest problem as a Jets fan - you're drinking water.

If that happens, a lot of folks here will lose their shit by the 3rd yr of the roster rebuild. They're already losing it in year 1. I don't think this fanbase has the patience for a true roster turnover/rebuild. Odds are better that the fanbase simply checks out and apathy sets in.

This is a fairly known problem. NY'ers have a patience problem, in general, and even less so with their sports teams. The ONLY way this organization is EVER going to get going in the right direction is for there to be a spot of patience. Players come and players go, but there HAS to be a certain amount of room for the new coaching staff to operate. I know I hop on here and lose my shit from time to time but that's what this place is for. Venting , getting our opinions out there etc. What does no one any good is to be calling out the new coaching staff all of 2 games into it. There's a mother f'n damn good reason this team CAN'T bring in known quantity coaches. If I'm a coach worth even half my shit, I wouldn't touch this organization with a 1,000 mile pole and it's got nothing to do with Woody Johnson. Everything around BOTH NY teams smacks of arrogance, impatience and a general lack of tact. The fans, myself included, act as if we all know more than the pro's do. And I mean EVERYONE! The nasty media jack asses...hell, they ACT like they've WON Super Bowls instead of writing about something most have probably never actually done outside the sandlot.

Hey, I get it. We ALL want a winner. I want a winner. But something's gotta give. You know why the Tuna won in NY? Because he didn't give a fuck. He would tell those media assholes off, to their faces, in the damn press conference. And, I HIGHLY doubt he EVER read any of the bullshit fans spew. That was so far beneath where he thought and KNEW he was that it didn't factor into the equation. At this point in my lifetime, I'm going to sit back, give Glenn the room to do his thing and see what happens. Now, if this shit is ongoing year 3 or 4 into it, then we have a different problem. However, the ONLY guys walking around that can turn a team around in a year already HAVE coaching gigs. The rest are just squirrels tryin' to get a nut.

Well, in many cases they have. We've had people leave here because of it - like the guy down south who was pissed the Jets got rid of Zach Wilson. That guy didn't really leave because the Jets were lousy, he left because he got exposed for tying his star to Wilson and his ego couldn't handle it. He scolded people in touch with the reality which is the NY Jets every day he showed up. I'll take apathetic fans over those guys every day.

If the Jets ever do manage to get their act together, who wants those guys of little faith back? Fair weather fans - screw 'em!

Way too hot for booze yesterday. Only thing worse than sitting through that game is sitting through that game and then feeling like shit.

And no place stronger than in this forum.

Three months ago the were joke threads about "let's start the next rebuild" literally after Glenn was hired. Two games have passed and now people are calling for a rebuild for real. Stop.

Glenn was the first foundation block of the new build.

You seem to have missed the board's strategy, so I'll let you in on it: The Jets are going to fire their way into a championship dynasty.

No doubt the Eagles have a great front office.

However, Carson Wentz who was playing at a pro bowl level got them into a position to make the SB in 2017 - Foles was just one of those amazing stories that sports throw up from time to time but it is simply wrong to suggest that the team didn't benefit from quality QB play that season.

You might not think Jalen Hurts is great but he is a top 10 rated QB and while there may be exceptions to any rule to have consistent success you need a top tier QB.

Great post and I agree with what you're saying - the only point I'd make is that part of the reason why there is no patience is that it doesn't feel like we are in the first year of a rebuild - it feels like we are in year 15 of the rebuild that has been going on since the Rex Ryan era collapsed - the coaching staff and players might have changed but every year since then feels like it has been part of a rebuild (certainly there hasn't been any kind of success or the feeling that things are settled).
