Idunno dude. The Saints are dubbed the worst team in football with a QB who is 0-10 in his career. They played within a score pretty much all day yesterday (until the end) of a Bills team that the league seems ready to hand the Lombardi.

I don’t think the disparity is ever that large in the NFL.

Just don't see a win...there is no way they can match the speed on that team. 9 men in the box and force JF to throw, sigh,

This could be said about every team. Every team is decent, but we should not be losing every game. Win a game. It's time. First season over after 4 games is a pretty good indicator of AG's future with the Jets IMO. Sure, he won't be fired after 4 games or the season, but it is certainly hard to imagine him being successful long term given the September season ending start. Win a game. It will not be easy, but it's time to win.

I think there's a difference between "any given Sunday" which is this, and actual success. We're so incredibly far from the Chiefs, Lions, Bills, Eagles, etc. when it comes to the latter, and that's unfortunately what you need.

So were the Commanders and Texans and it fixed itself in an offseason.

We can get there I think. The core of young players are there. We didn’t have much flexibility in the offseason with all the Rodgers dead money so I expect things to start to come around.

Understood, but like I said two bounces the right way and we’re 2-1. It’s 3 games in. We need to win tonight but we’re not 0-8 heading into November.

Commanders and Texans turned it around because they got the right coach and QB. We still don’t know what we have in our head coach and we’re praying to get the QB next year. We have to go 2/2 and we historically get both of those things very wrong.

And I also don’t buy the 1 or 2 bounces thing when it comes to the Bucs game. We were total no shows until Bowles stopped blitzing for whatever reason. And we got a major major bounce that went our way. Steelers game I agree, that’s our shit luck. Bucs… that’s our shit team.

I don't see it with Buffalo yet.

It's because of Allen they're getting hyped up he's so insanely good & popular.

I remember that draft I don't remember many or any people saying the Jets should draft him. It saddens me the Jets made the trade up in the draft to get their guy Allen slipped right down to Buffalo.

Of course it's Allen who turned out to be the generational QB not Darnold.

And deep down I know that even if the Jets had drafted Allen with his playing style here he'd have torn a rotator cuff or broken a leg or ACL something or many things would've happened to him by now.

    Lots of great comments here…

I think this game will show a lot about who we are…

If we are the optimistic view…a couple of bad bounces, lost 2 games by 4 points against playoff teams, etc etc, then we should be able to beat a dysfunctional winless Dolphins team

If we are the pessimistic view…we can’t tackle, our defense is a hot mess, our QB sucks, we only have 1 WR, etc etc, then we will lose and it’ll be ugly.

I am very curious to see how we show up tonight.

@Borat…yeah I also think AG needs a win, but then again, Dan Campbell started what, 0-9? Something like that. You never know. But yes I agree…starting 0-4 would be a bad look and enough to start turning many (most?) of the fans and media against AG…you can only preach patience so long…we need to start seeing progress. And fair or not, AG is battling the ghosts of former HCs as well…sure he’s had nothing to do with them but the fanbase has been here to suffer through it all, years of rebuilding, years of “wait until next year”, years of no playoffs…it is what it is and you know it as a coach when you take the job.

Personally, I don’t think we win tonight…I think the Dolphins’ strengths are tailor made to expose our weaknesses…I am already dreading seeing Hill and Waddle just roam free through our secondary and break a few big plays. I just don’t think we can cover them, or put another way, I’ve seen nothing from our D and our secondary specifically that gives me any hope we can stop their attack. I don’t think we can cover them, and the problem is that if you can get to Tua, you can disrupt that passing game, but with JJ out, I doubt we’ll be able to get to him often enough…and we can lay odds on how many RTP calls will Clemons draw? 2? 3?

I’ll have much more faith and a better outlook if we can actually show up and win a game, but I’m afraid this is going to get a bit worse before it (hopefully) gets better…and there’s not much worse than losing big on Monday night to a winless team

We don’t know if we have the right coach or not and we weren’t in any position to get a QB so I’ll reserve my judgement until a little later in the season or next year.

I get it with the Buccs game but this happens every week in the NFL. Teams come back from big margins. The Vikings were down 18 with 11 minutes to go yesterday and Carson Wentz of all people had a game tying drive opportunity. It’s the nature of the league and the Jets don’t lose kudos for doing that even with the blocked kick.

Im not predicting the future I'm just explaining why I can't be all that optimistic that we'll follow in the footsteps of teams who did it right. Just like the Lions comparisons aren't great either.

Jets definitely don't lose kudos, but again Bowles stopped blitzing. He cut the blitz rate from 60% to something in the mid-20s if I remember correctly from a Cimini tweet. Of course you're gonna play better when the other team actively chooses to stop doing what shut you down for three quarters. But yes you're right, they still made the plays, can't take that way from them. That just fuels the "any given Sunday" thing to me a whole lot more than it does "we have something here". And I'm not saying the two are mutually exclusive either.

Great points of view on this threat.
My two cents. For as much football as I watch now, it seems to me in general most the games come down to the wire, the offense on the field at the time typically has the upper hand, and gap between victory and defeat is very narrow, where one mistake destroys your chances. You can hardly count a three point lead with 30 seconds on the clock as safe. Kickers play a huge role, as is clock management.
The top teams strive in that environment thru more consistent execution, less mental errors, and because all the players rise up to be a contributor at any given time, not just the stars. We seem to lack depth, with a few key players and too many underachievers consistently picked on when the game is on the line and mistakes abound.

Let's hope we win tonight and this discussion will remain hypothetical, because it's very hard for me to imagine AG succeeding after effectively finishing the season in September. I remember Gase and Kotite doing that going 0-4, ending the season in Sept, the worst of the worst, but no one else. And I don't think our roster is THAT bad. So, I get your point that 0:4 is not the definitive end of AG, but to me personally this is more Gase/Kotite, not Parcells, and more than likely will end up same as these two. Let's just hope we win, and look forward to getting to 1 game within 500 next week.

Kyle Shanahan was 0-9 to start his career and 10-22 in the first two years. Zac Taylor was 6-25-1 his first two years including 2-7-1 in year two before Burrow got hurt. Campbell as you said had the Lions at 0-10-1 before they won a game.

Just saying - it’s not always a glamorous turnaround starting with a bang. And I mean we’ve been pretty competitive here. Not making excuses for us but Fields leaves the game against the Bills and we also got jobbed on a couple big calls early (as you correctly called with Clemons RTP).

Tyler Johnson inactive which is baffling considering how terrible our WRs are

Jelani Woods yet another inactive. Why bother claiming him?
